Letter to the nation

Letter to the nation which was once a celebrated secular republic

It gives me ‘immense’ discomfort to pen down my thoughts on the things happening around us. A nation which was declared as a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic, a very contrasting image is being presented, at least to me the Muslim of this nation who feels not just alienated from the mainstream but strongly feels inevitably on target of the majoritarian ire in the name of religious symbols.

Nehru weaved a society with intrinsic and intertwined social fabric, which was very much inclusive. But, the day a symbol standing in remembrance of Nehru’s modernist ideas and theories was pulled down in the capital city of the nation, Hall of Nations whose ribbed facade exactly portrayed the social bonding between communities for an overall growth and whose pyramidal structure was the epitome of Nehru’s economic model, it revealed much of the future prospects in this despotic regime.
