WHAT IS BUTTERFLY EFFECT ? A butterfly flapping its wings in one part of the world and causing a tornado on the other side of the globe. This was first explained by mathematician and meteorologist Edward Norton Lorenz. This theory is very much rooted in chaos.

I know of a personal incident: one of the kids I know was rushing to school by bike with his dad, reading final stuff on his mobile. On the way, he felt something was crawling in his shoe, so his dad had to stop for a while to investigate his shoe and figured out a fly was inside the shoe. They took it outside and rushed to school. After a while, they came to know their mobile was lost somewhere, and they went back to the spot where they stopped earlier and regained the mobile from the road. You can imagine, he could not prepare after that on the mobile until reaching school, and by the time they reached school, the exam had already started, and he scored average marks in that exam, albeit being a good scoring student. The mistake he did here is, he did not clean his shoes properly that day, which caused bad exam results.

In the annals of history, we can see that the cause of the First World War was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary by a Serbian nationalist on 28 June 1914, which triggered a chain reaction of war declarations between the allied nations.

Yes, life is delicately balanced both inside and outside. Even a small imbalance can cause a big impact, if we are not able to perceive and rectify it on time, a butterfly's wings flapping can unknowingly cause a lot of twists and turns there .

Memoirs—a throwback from 2013. Twelve years ago, on the same day, I visited Edinburgh Castle in Scotland. It is beautiful and located on Castle Rock, and it is also linked to the 1857 revolt and the Lucknow siege during the British rule in India.

"TRY AGAIN, FAIL AGAIN, FAIL BETTER " is Nobel laureate Samuel Beckett's famous quote. He is the only cricketer to have ever won a Nobel Prize in the history of mankind. He won it for literature at age of 53, although no word like 'success' is in this quote. This leads one to success or a goal, which are kind of synonyms for the Japanese continuous improvement philosophy, Kaizen.

This quote emphasizes constant learning and continuous improvement. One can try anything; mostly, he or she will fail, but don't give up. Keep trying, but the next failure should be better than the previous one. This is possible if one is evolving physically, mentally, and at a conscious level by learning the cause of failures in each step.

AFFLUENCE
**************
There are lots of books and talks nowadays, about how to be affluent, Classic examples are books like "Think and Grow Rich" and "The Secret", etc. The essence of these books is changing our mindset towards affluence and towards money. Maybe they are right and time-tested principles, but my perception towards that is a bit different. I saw a mango seed a couple of decades ago on the roof of my building. Although it was protected from weeds, flood etc., it never flourished.

During my childhood, I happened to sow two mango seeds in my backyard. Now I can see two big mango trees there, but one is twisted and thin, and the other one is fully grown, greenish, and producing lots of mangoes every year. The fate of the twisted one was like that because it was not nurtured well, the soil was rough, and sunlight was diminished. But for the second tree, everything was fine. It got a conducive environment, was nourished and nurtured well, and ample sunlight was there to grow. The first seed never became a tree, and the second one was twisted and thin, and the third tree was a majestic one.

To become affluent, one should be in a conducive environment and supporting surroundings. Yes, unlike trees, men can use their mindset and intelligence, to flourish, forests are born out of trees like that.

We all encounter the contradictory nature of life on a daily basis. We have been told by holy books and philosophers that means are more important than the goal, but we are all measured by results; our success is purely counted by it. In a way, we are nothing but results of our actions.

We are all preached by the fact that "no one is perfect on this planet", but in reality all creatures of this planet are unique and perfect in nature. The above psychology triggers one's desire and thoughts to become more or to become something else. This continuous movement of thoughts and desires leads us to discontentment and imperfection till we reach the grave.

4 Reins of Life
****************
Four reins of life, whether knowingly or unknowingly, always occur in everyone’s life: 1. Time 2. Space or place 3. Situations 4. Actions
Time-->It is constantly ticking without pause. There is a saying, “Time and tide wait for no man” and. no one has control over time; it passes like the wind. As Hasan Al-Basri once said, “We are nothing but a number of days, and whenever a day passes, a part of you passes away.”, As per Hindu mythology, only Kala Bhairavi (A fierce manifestation of the Hindu deity Lord Shiva,) has control over time; the rest are merely its slaves.

Space--> At any given moment, life exists within a realm called space. Ultimately, it is the planet Earth for mankind. At a more granular level, such as the place where one resides—house, village, city, or country—people change their location according to their well-being or convenience. Undoubtedly, the space in which one exists influences and significantly impacts his or her life.

Situations--> It can be divided into external and internal categories. These are the experiences one continuously encounters as transactions in life. They may include personal situations, professional situations, or everyday challenges. While one can control these to some extent, spiritual practices also play a role in managing them effectively.

Actions--> We all either react or respond to situations based on their merit. One's life depends entirely on taking the right actions at the right time and with the appropriate magnitude.

At most, we can manage time effectively but cannot control it. However, we may be able to control the other three reins to some extent by enhancing our perception towards life and fully applying all our faculties to the present moment. # Binoy Raveendran

Golden Shower (Konna Poovu)
*****************
Scars of the moon came down,
As golden showers of hope.
Whiff of magical scent,
Wafted on the breeze.
Frills of gold on enchanted hills,
Smiled to the breeze at dawn.
Queen of golden hairs,
Rose to the mountain in spring.
Dazzled eyes can't move away,
From the yellow lines of the lake.
