Just like buildings need different kinds of inspections, factories need different audits to stay strong, safe, and trustworthy.
Let's understand the different types of audit 👷‍♀️
🔹 Internal Audits – The Site’s Own Check
First-party Audit (Self-check): Like a contractor walking around the site with a checklist—“Are my workers wearing helmets? Are walls aligned? Are materials stored right?”
Self-assessment Audit: Similar to doing a mock inspection with a ready-made checklist to catch small mistakes before the real inspector shows up.
🔹 External Audits – Outsiders Come In
Second-party Audit (Customer Audit): The client visits the site to ensure the work matches their drawings, quality, and requirements.
Third-party Audit (Independent Audit): A neutral engineer or consultant comes in, not hired by you or your client, just to verify the site follows safety codes and quality standards.
Certification Audit: Like bringing in an official certifier who checks if your site can earn a safety or quality certificate (e.g., ISO).
Government Audit: The municipal officer or building inspector arrives to confirm the site follows all laws, permits, and safety regulations.
🔹 Other Types – The Style of the Check
Planned Audit (Announced Audit): Like being told, “The inspector will come next Tuesday.” You prepare and make the site neat.
Surprise Audit (Unannounced Audit): The inspector shows up unannounced—no time to hide the mess! What they see is what they get.
Follow-up Audit: After pointing out weak foundations or safety gaps last time, the inspector comes back to check if you’ve fixed them properly.
