A Home where Architecture breathes through Courtyards.
Designed on a narrow 25’ x 100’ east-facing plot, this 4000 sq.ft. residence celebrates its site’s strongest assets - two existing trees that anchor the western backyard. The entire planning evolves around a series of intimate “Plumeria (chafa)” courts, placed across levels, weaving nature into every space of the house.
From the moment you enter through a narrow basalt-lined passage, the experience unfolds layer by layer - a living space opening into a lush backyard, a grandparent’s room engaging with the street, and a central dining and puja zone rising into a dramatic double-height volume.
The upper floors revolve around a vibrant central spine of bridges, staircases, and open-to-sky courts creating a visual and spatial dialogue across levels. Every bedroom connects not just to views outside, but to living pockets of landscape within.
Materiality reinforces the concept - a grounded basalt base anchors the structure, while lighter exposed brick screens wrap the upper levels, filtering light, air and climate. The east facade becomes a breathable skin, while the south stays minimal and dead responding to harsh sun. The west opens generously to nature with terraces and balconies overlooking the preserved trees adorning the backyard.
The journey culminates in a serene backyard - a breathing oasis with water, greens and a gazebo.
A house not just built on a plot, but crafted around courts - where every space feels alive, connected and grounded in nature.
