🎨 Choosing the right colour palette isn't about picking your favourite colour—it's about creating balance.
One of the simplest principles interior designers follow is the 60-30-10 Rule. It helps create spaces that feel harmonious, visually balanced, and timeless.
🌿 60% – Main Colour
The main colour is the dominant shade in your room. It sets the overall mood and becomes the visual foundation of the space.
This colour is typically seen on:
• Walls
• Large surfaces
• Feature panels
• Major design elements
In this example, we've chosen a **soft sage green** as the main colour. Sage green brings a sense of calm, freshness, and connection to nature. It's soothing to the eyes, works beautifully in naturally lit spaces, and creates an elegant backdrop that never feels overwhelming.
🤍 30% – Secondary Colour
The secondary colour complements the main colour and adds balance without competing for attention.
Here, we've paired the sage green with a **warm cream**. Used on the sofa, curtains, flooring, and other large furnishings, cream softens the palette, reflects natural light, and keeps the space feeling bright, warm, and inviting.
✨ The remaining **10%** is reserved for accent colours through cushions, artwork, décor, and accessories—adding personality and visual interest without disrupting the overall harmony.
A thoughtfully balanced colour palette is the secret to interiors that feel luxurious, welcoming, and effortlessly timeless.
