Kibber is the highest in the world & one of the highest year-round inhabited locations in India.
It lies in a narrow valley on the peak of a rock.
The village has about houses which are made of instead of mud or adobe brick used extensively elsewhere in the Spiti village. At an altitude of 4270m, this village has a civil dispensary, a high school, a telegraph office & a post office.

Key Monastery is an outstanding illustration of architecture which developed under the Chinese influence. Its long corridors are a sign of architecture which is characterized by two or more stories often built in a fort style structure. This monastery has three floors, where the underground floor is majorly used for storage while the ground floor is comprised by the assembly hall and small rooms for monks.
