JP House is a haven for a family of four, specifically designed to cater to the needs of NRIs who annually gather with their extended family in the serene landscape of Kerala. Nestled within a peaceful village, the house was purposefully designed to exude subtlety, blending seamlessly with the tranquil surroundings. This property stands as a silent sentinel along a road leading to a nearby church, its exterior form intentionally understated to maintain the quietude of the neighbourhood.
Upon entering JP House, one embarks on a journey of spatial discovery. A thoughtful sequence of spaces unfolds through an entry courtyard, a welcoming foyer, and a formal living area that eventually leads to a striking double-height dining and family living room. This central space is visually divided by a bold staircase, preserving a sense of openness while separating the areas. The masterstroke of the design lies in the separation of the master and kids' bedrooms, accessible from the family living room- the former opening onto a quaint courtyard on one side. The master bedroom offers an intimate connection with nature, boasting a deck and courtyard with an open-sky lighting feature.
The heart of JP House, comprising the dining and family living rooms, acts as a serene cocoon in the midst of the closely packed neighbourhood, creating an ambiance of tranquillity dimly lit by strategically placed courtyards. To maintain an atmosphere of subdued elegance, a neutral palette of materials was chosen for the finishes, with occasional bursts of colour provided by carefully selected furniture and wall art. The first floor offers an additional living space and practical service areas to complete the functionality of this thoughtfully designed family retreat. JP House seamlessly balances privacy, serenity, and an elegant aesthetic, providing the perfect backdrop for cherished family gatherings in the heart of Kerala.
