Midori House, powder room. A wonderfully evocative narrative replete with textures and patterns. A subtle yet lush 3D pattern of dense leaves rendered in sandstone complements the rich lusciousness of the arched mosaic mural. A free-standing basin with a floor-mounted faucet takes care of the practical aspects.

Midori House’s eclectic design direction is amply evident in the master bedroom which brings diverse stylistic elements together. The backdrop of the bed has customised chinoiserie wallpaper placed in grid format, while the dresser unit has cane accents for a natural-toned vintage look. The attached washroom gets a generous dose of terrazzo for a retro style.

The focus of the design of the main cabin is establishing the volume — which is why we’ve placed minimal furniture in a seemingly scattered manner. The niches act as a mood board and house different samples. Materially speaking, the floor is natural wood, the walls are covered in interactive suede and the table-top is rendered from natural stone.

The narrative of our own office is erected upon ‘architectural grammar’ — basic elements like stones, bricks, exposed metal, lime plaster (in the reception) and fabrics (suede for walls). What’s more, the entire furniture is recycled. The elevation is interesting; the mezzanine area is marked with a textured brick wall that wraps anchors the upper level and sheaths the meeting room underneath.
