Signs of Red Spider Mite Infestation in Capsicum
Leaf Damage:
Fine yellow/white speckles (stippling) on leaves caused by mites sucking sap.
Leaves may turn bronze or brown and become brittle, eventually drying and dropping.
Webbing:
Fine silk-like webs on the undersides of leaves or between stems (severe infestations).
Visible Mites:
Tiny (0.5 mm), reddish-brown mites on leaf undersides (use a magnifying lens).
Stunted Growth:
Reduced plant vigor, smaller fruits, and delayed maturity due to nutrient loss.
Control measures ( chemical control)
Miticides/Acaricides:
•Abamectin (e.g., Agrimec): Systemic action, effective against all life stages.
•Spiromesifen (e.g., Oberon): Targets eggs and juveniles.
•Fenpyroximate (e.g., Hagonik): Contact killer.
Precautions:
Rotate chemicals to avoid resistance.
