C.E.B CIRCUIT BUNGALOW
Trincomalee circuit bungalow is the latest addition to the Ceylon Electricity Board’s welfare facilities. The project was launched in mid of 2020 as a renovation to the existing circuit, which was decayed and abandoned. Major objective of the development was to uplift the building condition and to provide a comfortable accommodation experience for C.E.B employees.
Since there was a limited budget, the design team identified the potential expansions without having massive demolitions and proposed some minimal touches for face lifting while keeping its original symmetricity. Both vernacular and modern languages were used for the building form.
Usually the eastern province has a tropical climate during the most months, a courtyard was introduced to enhance the cross ventilation and indoor air quality. The roof structure designed to increase the volumes within the bed rooms as a solution to reduce the thermal mass. A private garden court introduced to each room with a tree and lawn for an extended accommodation experience.
