This house renovation project in Yakkala involves transforming a single-storey typical Sri Lankan home into a more functional and comfortable living space. The design focuses on improving natural light, ventilation, and spatial flow to create open, breathable areas that enhance everyday living.

We aimed to enrich the home’s character by carefully using materials to highlight texture, form, and detail. Modern architectural elements and features were introduced to improve the sense of space, provide better working and living areas, and bring a refreshed, contemporary feel to the house.

This project involved the renovation and extension of a historic 100-year-old hotel located in Outspan, Kenya. The design approach was centered on preserving the original architectural character and heritage value of the old structure, while introducing a new modern extension that complements and enhances it.

The newly added hotel rooms and facility building are designed in a minimal and contemporary style, creating a striking yet harmonious contrast with the existing architecture. This careful balance between old and new celebrates the timeless elegance of the heritage building while offering guests a refreshed and elevated hospitality experience.

Situated in a prime location in Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria, this hotel plays a vital role in hosting conferences, business meetings, and social gatherings for both private and government sectors. The renovation project was undertaken with a clear focus on enhancing functionality, aesthetics, and guest experience, while respecting the fast-paced commercial nature of the environment.

Despite a highly ambitious timeline of just three months, the full renovation was successfully completed on schedule. This achievement stands as a testament to the dedication, strategic planning, and collaborative effort of the entire project team. The outcome not only rejuvenated the property but also reinforced its status as a key hospitality destination in the heart of Lagos.

Architectural Style: Tudor Revival

The boutique hotel at Gregory Lakefront is a carefully curated architectural endeavor that harmonizes with its picturesque surroundings. Inspired by Tudor Revival architecture, the design embodies a timeless aesthetic, featuring steeply pitched roofs, decorative half-timbering, and elegant detailing reminiscent of classic English country houses.

Strategically positioned to maximize panoramic views of Gregory Lake, the hotel seamlessly integrates with the landscape while offering a distinguished presence along the Welimada-Nuwara Eliya road. The spatial planning ensures an immersive guest experience, combining luxury with the natural beauty of Nuwara Eliya’s cool climate.

This project involves the design of a restaurant at the CAP Ceylon Factory site in Thanamalvila, Sri Lanka, commissioned by Mr. Ranjan T. Hanchapola, CEO of CAP Ceylon and an award-winning entrepreneur. I am glad to provide our architectural services to this endeavor, offering a design that reflects the visionary leadership and innovative spirit of Mr. Hanchapola. Thoughtful selection of building materials will create a comfortable environment suited to the area's climatic conditions. This restaurant will serve as a distinctive addition to the CAP Ceylon brand, enhancing the factory site with a warm, welcoming atmosphere tailored to its unique environment and clientele.

The Royal Mall Cafe in Kandy combines traditional Kandyan art with a modern, elegant design. A cool, neutral color palette, along with materials like polished wood and subtle metals, create a calming ambiance. The layout is user-friendly, with spacious seating and thoughtful lighting, ensuring comfort and easy navigation.

By merging traditional Kandyan motifs with contemporary elements, the cafe reflects Kandy’s cultural heritage while providing a modern and inviting atmosphere. This blend not only enhances the cafe’s aesthetic but also pays homage to Kandy's rich history, offering a unique experience for both locals and visitors.
