‘Chabaka’ est un réseau d’organisations non-gouvernmentales du nord du Maroc, dédiées à travailler ensemble pour adresser une gamme d’issues compris de la pauvreté, la violence familiale, l’immigration et les droits de l’homme. Créé officiellement en 2001 par 60 organisations arabes, il compris maintenant de 11 organisations permanentes, chaque avec sa prop
re autonomie et domaine de travail spécifique. Pour avoir un impact plus grand, ces organisations ne travaillent qu’ensemble en faisant parti de Chabaka, mais avec beaucoup d’autres organisations partenaires, nationales et internationales, tous avec les mêmes buts de coopération et développement. En coordonnant et faisant parti d’une variété d’activités comme les séminaires, les ateliers, les manifestations et la recherche, Chabaka et ses organisation partenaires visent à sensibiliser et mobiliser la publique et les institutions civiles aux certains enjeux. Ils fournissent de l’aide aux certaines groupes défavorisées : à Tanger, par exemple, le bureau travaille avec les immigrés sub-sahariens, les aidant à obtenir le statut de réfugié officiel. À Larache, l’Association Mains solidaires offre le soutien psychologique et judiciaire aux victimes de la violence conjugale.
‘Chabaka’ is a network of non-governmental organisations across north Morocco, dedicated to working together in order to address a range of issues such as immigration, poverty, domestic violence and human rights. Officially created in 2001 by 60 Arab organisations, Chabaka today consists of 36 core organisations, each with it’s own autonomy and specific field of work. In order to have the greatest impact possible, these organisations do not only work together as part of Chabaka, but also alongside a number of international partner organisations, all with the same goals of development and solidarity. By coordinating and hosting a number of activities such as seminars, workshops, demonstrations and research, Chabaka and it’s partner organisations aim to raise the public’s awareness of certain issues, and in doing so, mobilise them to join the fight for development and human rights. Chabaka also offers direct support to certain underprivileged groups; the office in Tangier, for example, works closely with sub-Saharan immigrants, advising them and helping them achieve official UN refugee status. In Larache, the Association Mains solidaires offers psychological and legal support to victims of domestic abuse. While the UNFPA provides financial support for certain projects, the majority of Chabaka’s work is voluntary. Although this of course poses constraints, it does not discourage the network, whose driving force is not money, but human capacity.
