Before the next heavy rain, give your home ten minutes.

Clear your balcony or entrance drain, latch windows, bring loose items inside and move documents and electronics away from the floor. Keep rubbish away from street drains.

Salt air never stops working on steel.

This tower has been standing for years. It just got its second life: washed back, prepped, and recoated from the base to the top.

Swipe for the four stages. Then look again at the last slide and count the people. Three of our crew are on the tower. One never leaves the ground.

That is the rule. Nobody climbs alone, and somebody always holds the ground with the authority to stop the work.

Maintenance is contracted separately from a build, and we are usually the ones called back.

What air conditioning actually costs. Published, so you can compare properly instead of guessing.

Service: MVR 1,200 per unit, gas filling included
Installing a new unit: MVR 1,000 per unit
Removing an old unit: MVR 650 per unit
Annual plan: MVR 4,500 per year, serviced every three months, two gas fillings included

Four services booked one at a time comes to 4,800. The plan is 4,500.

The saving is modest. The real difference is that on a plan it actually happens, rather than you noticing in April that nobody has touched it since last year.

Before you pick the cheaper one, go and find these four lines in it.

“Materials to be advised.”
Nobody has priced the materials yet.

“Waterproofing by others.”
Waterproofing by nobody.

“Excludes making good.”
Excludes putting your house back.

“Provisional sum.”
A number chosen so the total looked smaller.

He is probably right about the price. He is describing a different job.

"He can do it in a week."
He can start it in a week.

"He did my brother's place."
Ask your brother again in three years. Not a dig. That is just when things show.

"Can you match his price?"
We can match his price. We cannot match it and also do the waterproofing.

There are twenty atolls in the Maldives. We have completed work in all twenty.

That sentence took twenty years and 146 projects to earn.

From a 60-metre tower installed and painted in HDh. Naivaadhoo in the far north, to pipeline distribution and fire hydrant systems in GDh. Gadhdhoo in the far south. Telecom towers, civil construction, sewerage and water, design-and-build, resort and marine works.

The hard part in this country is rarely the engineering.

It is getting steel, plant and crew onto an island with no harbour, inside a weather window, and holding the schedule anyway. Island logistics is the discipline. Everything else follows from it.
