AFA Group marked a significant milestone today with the Groundbreaking and Project Launch Ceremony for the KL–Karak Highway Widening and Genting Sempah Third Tunnel Construction Project at the Third Tunnel Eastbound Portal, Genting Sempah.
The ceremony was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Works, together with Tan Sri Dr. Azmil Khalili Khalid, Chairman of AFA Group, marking an important step forward in the ongoing transformation of one of Malaysia’s key connectivity corridors.
Valued at approximately RM2.1 billion, the project involves the widening of 45.3 kilometres of the KL–Karak Highway from KM19.2 near Plaza Tol Gombak to KM64.5 at Persimpangan Mempaga, Bentong, together with the construction of the 999-metre Third Genting Sempah Tunnel.
Scheduled for completion in 2030, the project is expected to improve highway capacity, traffic flow, safety and overall travel comfort, while strengthening connectivity between the Klang Valley and the East Coast.
The ceremony was also attended by key leaders and stakeholders, including YB Datuk Seri Utama Ir. Hasni bin Mohammad, Chairman of the LLM; Datuk Dr. Khairus Masnan bin Abdul Khalid, Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and Development), Ministry of Works; Ir. Mohd Hadzmir bin Yusoff, Director General of LLM; YB Dato’ Ir. Razali bin Kassim, Chairman of the Pahang State Committee for Public Works, Transport and Health; and En. Ahmad Faizi Latifi bin Ahmad Faiz, Managing Director & CEO of AFA PRIME Berhad.
