Interisting fact. Insolated pipes from below the ceiling level all the way to the top at the Cowl is very important.
1. Protects your ceiling material
2. Protects your roof structure materials
3. Protects your waterproofing
4. It also insolates the hot air from direct contact with could air in the ceiling void and outside. Hot air keeps on rising and natural convection can take place. Also helps with condensation in the flue pipes that could damage your fireplace over time.
