Yerima's legacy is tied to the Nigerian Army's communication history. He became Director of Army Public Relations twice, representing the Army nationally and internationally, handling crisis communication, and briefing stakeholders on Armed Forces activities.

Yerima speaks for accountability, verifying details before addressing the public, treating information as national security, not entertainment. He defends the Nigerian Army's image by defending the institution, its honour, and the sacrifices of those who serve.
