What could be the reason for the slow adoption of renewable energy, in Nigeria 🇳🇬?

In Nigeria, with the rising cost of petrol and the ever-present power outage, every household and business need alternative energy power supply like Solar, wind or both ( as both are abundant naturally, in Nigeria and also under utilised). But it is very obvious that the adoption of these technologies is slow 🐌 even with the crippling economy.
An average household spends about N4000 on petrol a day. In a month that would accumulate to N120,000 and in a year, it will be N1,444,000.
That amount is exactly how much you need to have a basic home offgrid solar project completed. It will power your homes all day and all night without no recurrent expenditure.
Why are people not embracing these alternatives en mass? Is it Ignorance, Poverty or Poor planning? I guess it is all of the above.

According to climatescorecard.org 45% of Nigerians have no access to electricity. It also stated that only 0.001% of Nigeria's energy is sourced from solar or wind. This is so surprising and sad at the same time when you consider the amount of sunlight Nigeria has in a day. Is it actually poverty, or is it Ignorance? I guess it is poor planning. 80% of Nigerian households use petrol or diesel powered generators. These generators are the major causes of environmental pollution in residential areas within Nigeria 🇳🇬.
A lot of sensitisation of the populates,is needed here. It is not poverty. It is not ignorance. It is negligence and poor planning all together.
