*I LOVE THIS ANALOGY*
- *When * GOD * wanted to create * fish *, he spoke to* *the *sea*.
- *When * GOD * wanted to create * trees *, he spoke to*the*earth*.
- *But when * GOD * wanted to create * man *, he turned*to * HIMSELF*.
- *So * GOD * said: * "Let us make man in our image and*likeness"*.
*Note:*
- *If you take a * fish out of the water, it will die *; and* *when * you remove a tree from the ground, it also dies* *.
- *Similarly, when * man * disconnects from * GOD, he* *dies*.
- * *GOD * is our * natural environment *. We were* *created to * live in HIS presence *. - We have to be* *connected with * Him * because only with * Him * life* *exists*
- *Let's stay * connected with GOD* *.
- *Remember that * water without fish is still water* *, *but * fish without water are nothing* *.
- *The * soil without the tree is still soil *, but the * tree* *without soil is nothing* * ...
- * *God * without * man is still God *, but * man without*GOD is nothing*
- *If this message reaches you and you share it with* *others, * that is called evangelism!* *

As Boko Haram will soon be notching its tenth year of violence in northeastern Nigeria and neighboring Cameroon and Niger, one thing stands out: the staying power of the worldโ€™s bloodiest terrorist group (formerly).

It beats many how the group has been able to hang on.

Even a hipper and better moneyed Islamic State flamed out after three years.

But despite a decade of moderate to heavy pounding by the Nigerian armed forces with support of their collaborators from NATO and EU, the Islamist extremist group still has the capabilities to spring surprises. It has been raiding military bases, masterminding su***de bombing, and associating with other groups like Al Qaedaโ€™s franchise in the Maghreb, the West Africa affiliate of Syriaโ€™s Islamic State, and Somaliaโ€™s Al Shabaab.

That way, it has killed no fewer than 16,987 people, including Muslims, Christians, humanitarian workers, and troops, since 2011, according the Council on Foreign Relations Nigeria Security Tracker. At least 50,000 children have been so orphaned.

And the group could have done worse had President Muhammadu Buhari, a general and civil war vet, not pushed back a little. The terrorists killed no fewer than 875 people in the last one yearโ€”compared to 6985 killed between 2014 and 2015.

The marginal gain, many believe, doesnโ€™t justify Buhariโ€™s declaration and insistence that his government has defeated Boko Haram technically.

The situation has got more annoying lately. Especially as Nigeriaโ€™s well cocooned members of the National Assembly are beginning to also feel the heat.

โ€œMr. Speaker, where are we going? For the last year, I cannot go to my village and sleep, I feel very insecure,โ€ said Hon. Adamu Chika from Niger when the House reconvened recently. โ€œIt is terrible. We have to do something about it.โ€

So itโ€™s getting more eyeballs, home and abroad.

Also heightening the tension is the religious politics the Christian Association of Nigeria is mixing with the Boko Haram terrorism and the government counter-insurgency efforts.

Federal lawmakers, critics and opinion leaders initially called for the sack of the nationโ€™s military service chiefs coordinating the COIN strategy. But the lawmakers have had to walk back their words after meeting with the brass, getting all primed up with more human intelligence.

Theres the issue of equipment, personnel and other things that would be said off-camera. We know our committees are capable of handling these issues, said Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.

But the committee chairman eventually let it slip.

There is probably an international dimension to what we see. There is ISIS, there is ISWAP,โ€ Hon. Babajimi Benson, chairman, House Committee on Defense, told journalists. Though he said the committee will discuss it in a classified manner.

That some identified countries support Boko Haram wonโ€™t be much of a state secret for security analysts that have enough handle on Islamic terrorism and support around the world.

As fanatical and unworldly as Boko Haram is, money still remains the root of all evil. Through bank robberies, kidnap and ransom, drug and arms peddling, car-jacking, taxation of occupied territories, cigarette trading, the hardscrabble terrorist organization has been able to raise funds to keep afloat, and sustain its low-financed mode of operation: su***de bombing with IEDs.

It might not be making a kill from its drives for finance, though.

Boko Haramโ€™s annual income stands at $10 million, according to the Action on Armed Violence (AOAV) in a study sponsored by the NATO Counter-IED Center of Excellence. This amount seems miserable when compared with other organizationsโ€™.

To shore up its liquidity, the group also gets financial and materiel supports from around the world. Which is what Nigeriaโ€™s federal lawmakers are just grappling with.

Some of these countries are Nigeriaโ€™s neighbors. Others are its distant allies.

Cameroon and Qatar

The terrorists are also plaguing the northern part of Cameroon. But the Nigerian neighbor sure harbors terrorist financiers and supporters connecting Boo Haram to outside world mostly known as petro-monarchies. One of them is Alhaji Abdallah, a Cameroonian car dealer whose hot shop, stocked with cars the terrorists steal extends, to Qatar. He was once nominated to help negotiate the release of a French family the group kidnapped for a ransom of more than $3 million in 2013. The AOAV said the Cameroonian military found receipts from Qatar as well as travel documents from Libya and Qatar in a Boko Haram camp in June 2014.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is an ally of Nigeriaโ€™s. But the Middle Eastern regional power has its own interest at heart. โ€œBoko Haram is funded by our friends from Saudi Arabia and our friends from Qatar,โ€ Benin Republic ex-President Nicephore Soglo said pointblank during a summit in Niamey last year.

A prominent member of the petro-monarchies, Saudi likes to stand its ground as the headquarters of Islam on the planet. It will go to places to make that happenโ€”by using money to tame every brand of Islam originating elsewhere, and trying to steal the show.

The fund might be huge, but itโ€™s not regular.

Former head of French intelligence service DGSE (Direction Gรฉnรฉrale de la Sรฉcuritรฉ Extรฉrieure) Alain Chouet said in the report that Qatar and Saudi Arabia have directly participated in funding Boko Haram.

Egypt

Cairo may not play exactly a similar role to that of Saudi Arabia in supporting Nigerias home-bred insurgents. But funds trickle in from the African country. Small donations from religious students in Cairo flow in to support Boko Haram, according to an ex-Mujahedeen Kabir Umar. More funds like this also flow in from Sudan, Algeria, and others.

A Boko Haram defector, Sheikh Sani Haliru, once claimed he visited countries Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Yemen, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Libya and Niger.

Turkey

A series seizures of illegal arms imported from Turkey in Lagos has left little to doubt about Turkey dalliance with terrorism in Nigeria.

In May 2017, the Nigerian government told AFP it intercepted an illegal arms shipment originating from Turkey. The deadly cargo comprised 440 pump action rifles seized at the port in Lagos. About five months earlier, customs officers stopped a truck carrying 661 illegal pump-action rifles already cleared at the port.

In 2019, a Christian Broadcasting Network report quoted an Egyptian station, Ten.TV, as saying Turkey was supplying arms to Boko Haram. PM Tayyip Erdogan dismissed the report as vile. A leaked You-tube video of an official of Turkey Airlines however hit the internet. Mehmet KarataลŸ was confessing his complicity in shipping weapons to Nigeria. โ€œI do not know whether these [weapons] will kill Muslims or Christians. I feel sinful,โ€ KarataลŸ said.

The Nigerian authorities said they were investigating it. Nothing has been heard since then.

More countries and regional blocs, strong allies of the African giant, might have even benefited from Nigeriaโ€™s calamity. Its non-alliance foreign relations strategy has taken a knock, which is to the delight of the West, the EU, and NATO.

Nigeria now looks to them for military and humanitarian supports to cope. And this is an international system where none gets something for nothing

Women have constantly expressed their fury at the โ€˜demandsโ€™ of men in regards to what they want from their wives. In a bid to be โ€˜heard,โ€™ a number of women stepped out to represent views of women on the wants expressed by men. Here are some of the things they had to say:

1. Submissive women

Mercy, a divorcee who had been married for eight years with one daughter says it is not enough for the man to be head of the family. โ€œHe has to act like it and make decisions with the familyโ€™s welfare in mind,โ€ she says. โ€œWomen want to feel secure, or at least I do,โ€ she adds. โ€œIf then the woman makes decisions, it is because the man has not stepped up to his responsibility. Marriage is a partnership, not a dictatorship. He shouldnโ€™t be the one that decides everything. To respect, leave alone submit to a man who is not doing his job, is an uphill task in itself,โ€ she concludes.

According to Psychiatrist Dr Catherine Syengo Mutisya, women want more than security. In this working era where women make their own money, they are assured of their financial security and hence need companionship.

2. Women who do not deny them conjugal rights

More than 65 per cent of all problems in marriage are rooted in s*xual mal-adjustment between husband and wife. While men expect their partners to always be on standby any time they need their conjugal rights, they do not understand that there are times or seasons when s*x can be a burden for the woman. Even worse, women have perfected the art of using s*x as a weapon for fighting non-s*xual battles.

โ€œI like that my man knows me inside out. He understands when I am not just in the mood and he reads between the lines when I deny him his conjugal right just to get his attention,โ€ says Ruth, a salon owner, married for 9 years. She however confesses that it was not always easy as they had to learn to communicate what she felt and is lucky to have a husband who is patient enough.

Joyce Huggett, in her book, โ€œDating, S*x and Friendship: Be Holy and S*xual,โ€ argues that s*x goes beyond hormones, or***ms, s*x organs and s*x urges. We must consider the social dimension of s*xuality, the non-genital aspect of s*x which lies as much at the core of our personality as this urgent longing for bodily fusion.

It is for this reason that unlike men, women need an entire day or more to be prepared for in*******se. Women respond to touch and speech while men respond to the sight of a naked women.

3. Women who can pay bills without complaining

Men interviewed complained that they were overwhelmed with family bills. But Annemary Mukobwa is of the opinion that only a lazy slug would ask for such. โ€œWhat happened to the man providing, protecting and being the priest of the family?โ€ she asks.

Magezi Kabasoga, a respondent to the feature on Evewoman.co.ke says, โ€œWe should go back to our roots; the African way of sharing responsibilities. If you look at it from this point, then this writer and what he has written is a piece of cake.โ€

Yet another respondent, Jane Doe says, the bottom line is trust, when you trust each other, you will also love each other. When you love and trust each other your money becomes family money.

4. Hard-working wives

Hellen Mwihaki, a 27-year-old teacher and a single mother of one says in as much as there are different things that men look for, hard work and beauty is a common factor. I think a lady has to look good and appealing to the eye if she is to position herself for a good guy. Also, if she cannot take care and raise kids by herself, she is doomed to be a turn off.

Betina, who considers herself conservative when it comes to matters marriage believes that while it is okay for the house help to help around the house, the duty to serve and cater to her husband is solely hers. She would not allow her help to cook, iron or prepare bathing water for her husband.

โ€œThat is a recipe for disaster,โ€™ she says. โ€˜The help is there to do exactly that, help. Not to take over the running of the house. The next thing you know, she will take over your husband too.โ€

But newly married Pauline, who runs her own business is not for the idea. In her opinion, in this 21st century, womenโ€™s role should not be tied down to the kitchen. In fact she advocates for sharing of the housework. Psychiatrist Dr Catherine Syengo Mutisya agrees saying women need men who help around the house; with housework and children.

Ketty Salome adds, โ€œIf I am to pay more bills/mortgage at home, then it means I work hard and need someone to help me manage the house.โ€

5. Women with high self-esteem and confidence

In โ€œStrong Women, Only Intimidate Weak Men,โ€ an e-book by Farrah Gray, CNNโ€™s African-American First History Makers, he shows that it is a perceived myth that ambitious and self-achieved women intimidate men. If at all your man is intimidated by your success then he qualifies not to be a man but a boy. Women need men who support them in their careers and personal life,โ€ a statement echoed by Psychiatrist Dr Catherine Syengo Mutisya.

โ€œConfidence is the best make-up you can put on,โ€ says the wife of Tony, a man interviewed in the previous feature. โ€œIf you are confident, you attract men who will respect you. It is that simple,โ€ she explains. โ€œOne does not necessarily have to be beautiful to be confident; not to say that I am not beautiful but any man worth his grain would choose inner beauty over curves and a pretty face,โ€ she says.

6. Women with inner beauty

As fashion designer Betsey Johson put it, Girls do not dress for boys. They dress for themselves and, of course, each other. If girls dressed for boys theyโ€™d just walk around naked at all times.

A study that interviewed 2,000 women revealed that six out of ten women aged between 18 and 30 said they had their girlfriends in mind when they chose what to wear on a big night out. Two thirds of women believe that men say they look good regardless of what they look like. If then that is the case, there has to be something beyond the physical that makes husband stick around. It has something to do with personality.

โ€œI have never gotten all โ€˜dolled upโ€™ to snare a man. If I want a man, all I have to do is be in my best behaviour. Keep my talk to a minimum and just like my mother taught me be my best behaved self. It always works like a charm, every time,โ€ says Makena smiling sheepishly. โ€œThe way a guy reacts tells me whether he is a keeper. If he takes my meekness for weakness, I know it is time to run. If he is a gentleman, he is a keeper.โ€

As Dr Steve says in his book, women were made from the ribs of men, an organ close to his heart. This partly explains why the woman is tender, emotional and personal in her orientation. It is why she needs a man not afraid to show he cares, is genuinely kind doing nice things naturally without having to be reminded or nagged.

7. Women who are accommodative

While men say they love women who accommodate their families as they are, without looking down upon them or making a fuss at every given opportunity, women expect the same courtesy extended to them.

โ€œI completely understand that I married into my ex-husbandโ€™s family, and dowry was paid, that is without a doubt. However, that does not mean all rights to visit my parents are revoked. They are still my family and while relatives might be a handful to deal with they should still be welcome in my home,โ€™ says a bitter Mercy.

8. Physical maintenance

According to Psychiatrist Dr Catherine Syengo Mutisya, the physical appearance actually excites men even s*xually. But for women, it is how she is treated and talked to that attracts her to a man. But that is not to say that looks do not count.

During KTNโ€™s dating show, โ€˜Are You My Typeโ€™, a lady, in response to whether she would tell her date if they had a foul mouth gave an outright โ€˜yesโ€™. Supporting her answer, she reasoned that personal care and hygiene are a deal breaker.

โ€œIf he cannot take care of his own self, how will he take care of me?โ€ she asked. โ€œThen again I am not about to get embarrassed in front of my friends, when I introduce a man with a foul mouth and probably ill-fitting clothes,โ€ she said. While grooming goes beyond oral hygiene, it is clear that good grooming may get you the girl.

DEAR CHURCH GIRLS

I want to appreciate you for your decent dressings, no loud makeups, no earrings, coming to church early , serving in the altars and all the good things you do in church...

But I must tell you that your character is killing, your stubbornness is too much, your anger is disastrous...

Some of you are bombs waiting to explode a day after you get married to the unlucky brother...

We know you make nice facebook posts, we know you are hungry for revival and wants to be used by God especially those of you who are in ministry, believe me we appreciate but some of you, your pride is higher than the one that sent Satan down from heaven...

From your speech we all know that the part where the Bible says wives submit to your husband is not in your Bible, it has changed to husbands submit to your wives...

Mind you, I'm not the type that puts a woman under a man's feet, try to understand my point

Have you ever wondered why after all the jobs you do in the church most brothers still go out and marry one sister with Mimi skirts and poster colour face?

It's simply because we all know that this good morning sir good morning sir you greet us bending down in church, is just pretence, we know you don't even greet the male neighbours in your compound and even your own elder brothers...

I have been opportune to speak with some of you and most times followed some of you on facebook, believe me there is nothing to keep a home in you, forget all this garagara...

You think God is partial when he gave brother Patrick whom you love another sister from another church who's not even in the choir? It's because brother Patrick like me has been asking the Lord for a wife and not a knife in a foil...

You don't expect God to give him someone like you who doesn't take words from anyone yet pretends to be humble...

Some of us are people's only son and child's and we want someone who can give us peace and not destroy our family when they come in...

Work on your character and stop blaming Satan, the young man is not even aware you are single...

Some of us are hundred percent ready and we have a little cash to start the journey of seeing your dad but we want evidence...

Love is not stupid my dear...

I hope you understand

DOES HE HAVE A CAR?

Sarah was crying her heart out.
But no one knew why except her

The groom Brunoh was her ex.
He had proposed to her and she accepted.
He was loving and godly, but he wasn't very much comfortable.

Then one day she met Baruch, he was Rich and very romantic
The first day they met he paid for her shopping, thirty thousand naira worth of items, and took her number,

That night he called her.
He knew how to make a Woman laugh.
On her birthday he bought her an android phone, she had been begging Brunoh to help her, but he had been unable to.

Very soon she started going out on dates with him, he took her to the most expensive joints around town.
He spent on her and made her feel special in ways Brunoh couldn't.

One day he proposed to her.

Her Pastor told her to pray and be sure.
But her Mum told her not to miss such an opportunity,
She listened to her Mum.

She broke up with Brunoh and started dating Baruch

A year later and Baruch dumped her for another girl. Before he broke up with her he had infected her with HIV, he was highly promiscuous. He led her away from her faith and her convictions.

She wished to go back to Brunoh, but she knew that was now impossible.

He was now engaged to her best friend.
She was present at his wedding.

He wasn't still as rich, but he was no longer where he used to be,
He had been promoted twice since she left him and things were looking bright for him.

She remembered how he pleaded with her.
She remembered how he cried.
But she was blinded by the Wiles, Riches, and Way Baruch lived life, the comfort he presented

Now she was a changed girl
Now she was willing to listen.
It wasn't too late for her, with God it never is,
But she had missed a good Man.

Today was her ex's wedding to her very good friend.
She was part of the bridal train
She was in tears.
No one knew why except her.

I'm saying don't make Money the number one criteria for marrying a Man.

Truth is women like comfort and security and money can provide that.
So it's very tempting to pull a Regina Daniel's.
But if that's what you feel led to do, by all means do it
I'm not a judge, only a counselor.

Does he have a Car?
My Brother in law married my Sister when he had no car, today he's driving a Toyota Corolla and I trust God it can only get better.

Don't ask what he is driving, ask instead what's driving him?
Where does he live? Have you asked what lives in him?
Does he love God?
Does he have a Vision?
Does he fear God?

MAY YOUR ROAD BE ROUGH*
_By Tai Solarin, Jan. 1, 1964_

I am not cursing you; I am wishing you what I wish myself every year. I therefore repeat, may you have a hard time this year, may there be plenty of troubles for you this year! If you are not so sure what you should say back, why not just say, โ€˜Same to youโ€™? I ask for no more.
Our successes are conditioned by the amount of risk we are ready to take. Earlier on today I visited a local farmer about three miles from where I live. He could not have been more than fifty-five, but he said he was already too old to farm vigorously. He still suffered, he said, from the physical energy he displayed as a farmer in his younger days. Around his hut were two pepper bushes. There were kokoyams growing round him. There were snail shells which had given him meat. There must have been more around the banana trees I saw. He hardly ever went to town to buy things. He was self-sufficient. The car or the bus, the television or the telephone, the newspaper, Vietnam or Red China were nothing to him. He had no ambitions whatsoever, he told me. I am not sure if you are already envious of him, but were we all to revert to such a life, we would be practically driven back to cave dwelling. On the other hand, try to put yourself into the position of the Russian or the America astronaut. Any moment now the count, 3, 2, 1, is going to go, and you are going to be shot into the atmosphere and soon you will be whirling round our earth at the speed of six miles per second. If you get so fired into the atmosphere and you forget what to do to ensure return to earth, one of the things that might happen to you is that you could become forever satellite, going round the earth until you die of starvation and even then your body would continue the gyration!
When, therefore, you are being dressed up and padded to be shot into the sky, you know only too well that you are going on the roughest road man had ever trodden. The Americans and Russians who have gone were armed with the great belief that they would come back. But I cannot believe that they did not have some slight foreboding on the contingency of their non-return. It is their courage for going in spite of these apprehensions that makes the world hail them so loudly today.
The big fish is never caught in shallow waters. You have to go into the open sea for it. The biggest businessmen make decisions with lighting speed and carry them out with equal celerity. They do not dare delay or dally. Time would pass them by if they did. The biggest successes are preceded by the greatest of heart-burnings. You should read the stories of the bomber pilots of World War II. The Russian pilot, the German pilot, the American or the British pilot suffered exactly the same physical and mental tension the night before a raid on enemy territory. There were no alternative routes for those who most genuinely believed in victory for their side.
You cannot make omelettes without breaking eggs, throughout the world, there is no paean without pain. Jawaharlal Nehru has put it so well. I am paraphrasing him. He wants to meet his troubles in a frontal attack. He wants to see himself tossed into the aperture between the two horns of the bull. Being there, he determines he is going to win and, therefore, such a fight requires all his faculties.
When my sisters and I were young and we slept on our small mats round our mother, she always woke up at 6a.m. for morning prayers. She always said prayers on our behalf but always ended with something like this: โ€˜May we not enter into any dangers or get into any difficulties this day.โ€™ It took me almost thirty years to dislodge the canker-worm in our motherโ€™s sentiments. I found, by hard experience, that all that is noble and laudable was to be achieved only through difficulties and trials and tears and dangers. There are no other roads.
If I was born into a royal family and should one day become a constitutional king, I am inclined to think I should go crazy. How could I, from day to day, go on smiling and nodding approval at somebody elseโ€™s successes for an entire lifetime? When Edward the Eighth (now Duke of Windsor) was a young, sprightly Prince of Wales, he went to Canada and shook so many hands that his right arm nearly got pulled out of its socket. It went into a sling and he shook hands thenceforth with his left hand. It would appear he was trying his utmost to make a serious job out of downright sinecurism.
Life, if it is going to be abundant, must have plenty of hills and vales. It must have plenty of sunshine and rough weather. It must be rich in obfuscation and perspicacity. It must be packed with days of danger and of apprehension.
When I walk into the dry but certainly cool morning air of every January 1st, I wish myself plenty of tears and of laughter, plenty of happiness and unhappiness, plenty of failures and successes. Plenty of abuse and praise. It is impossible to win ultimately without a rich measure of intermixture in such a menu. Life would be worthless without the lot. We do not achieve much in this country because we are all so scared of taking risks. We all want the smooth and well-paved roads. While the reason the Americans and others succeeded so well is that they took such great risks.
If, therefore, you are out in this New Year 1964, to win any target you have set for yourself, please accept my prayers and your elixir.
May your road be rough!
