Foundations! Foundations!! Foundations!!!... Let's talk about them!

Without a well-executed foundation your building construction project is doomed to fail!

The foundation is often professionally referred to as the substructure of a building.

However, the word "substructure" is not a dismissal of the pivotal role foundations play in a building but highlights the fact that they often become invisible to the eye as the construction project progresses.

Now, let's talk about the work steps that go into the foundation of a properly constructed building:

◾ Preliminary Investigations including soil bearing capacity and other checks are carried out on the project site.

This information guides the structural recommendation on the type of foundation fit for the soil and structure coming on it.

◾ Site preparation and excavation: This involves site clearing, excavation, and floor blinding.

◾ Depending on the type of foundation block laying and reinforcement bars are placed in the designated sections.

◾ Formworks are the constructed to form the concrete columns or the entire foundational structure as required by the engineer's specifications.

◾ Back filling the new foundation sections and compactions are then done as a final step to complete the foundation.

These steps are the intricate processes that make up the average construction project foundation.

However, in the case of skyscrapers, there are specialised requirements for the foundation which will require boring and more complex concrete pouring efforts.

Ultimately, for all sizes of building projects, stakeholders must seek the professional advice of engineers, builders, and architects at all stages of the project especially starting at the foundation level.

This school building owned by Maverick college ibadan was commenced in 2013 and completed in 2014.

When we saw its foundational stages and how beautifully well it was finished and how well it stands today, we knew we shouldn't keep it to ourselves.

We delivered this project after its construction, finishing, and furnishing were completed in 2023.

Professionally, this is what we would call a package deal which involves completing the entire project from scratch to finish including the furnishing of the building. However, client influence had other subcontractors involved in the tiling and furnishing stages of the project.

Nonetheless, we are glad to have had the opportunity to deliver this beautiful building project.
