To have a good harvest in a maize farm, here are key practices u should put in place:
1. Soil Preparation
Test the soil to know its pH and nutrient levels.
Clear and till the land properly to allow easy root pe*******on and drainage.
2. Seed Selection ( Get seed from us. We have a sweetable seeds for all kind of land under any weather)
Choose high-yielding, disease-resistant maize varieties suitable for ur climate.
3. Timely Planting ( We will advise a good timing)
Plant at the beginning of the rainy season for good moisture supply.
Follow recommended spacing (usually 75cm x 25cm) for optimal plant population.
4. Fertilizer Application ( We can supply u NPK and UREA fertilizer)
Use organic manure or NPK fertilizer (like NPK 15:15:15 or 20:10:10)
Apply urea or nitrogen-based fertilizer around 3–4 weeks after planting (side dressing).
5. W**d Control ( we will supply u with selective herbicide)
W**d regularly, especially in the first 6 weeks.
You can use herbicides or manual weeding.
6. Pest and Disease Control
Watch out for armyworms, stem borers, and fungal diseases.
Use recommended pesticides or biological control methods early.
7. Water Management
Ensure consistent water supply, especially during flowering and grain filling stages.
In dry areas, use irrigation or mulching to retain soil moisture.
8. Proper Harvesting
Harvest when the maize is dry (cobs turn brown, kernels hard).
Dry cobs properly before storage to avoid mold.
