"Setting Out a Building Using the 3:4:5 Method: A Guide for Professionals

The 3:4:5 method of setting out a building is a technique mainly used by professionals, while the square method is more commonly known by artisans and some professionals. In this article, I will discuss two key aspects: setting out and client management.

Setting Out:

To set out a building using the 3:4:5 method, you will need:

1. Skilled labor for assistance
2. A rope
3. Two steel tapes
4. Pegs
5. Profile
6. Hammer
7. Nails
8. Marker
9. Square

Follow these steps:

1. Establish your baseline according to the architectural design dimensions.
2. Place a rope on the baseline between Peg A and Peg B.
3. Measure 3 meters or feet (choose one unit and stick to it throughout) along the baseline and mark a new peg.
4. Place one steel tape on the 3-meter/feet mark and the second tape on Peg A.
5. Hold the 4-meter/feet mark on the tape attached to Peg A and the 5-meter/feet mark on the other tape attached to Peg C (the 3-meter/feet mark).
6. Ensure the 5-meter/feet mark is diagonal and the 4-meter mark is adjacent.
7. Repeat this process for all three angles.
8. At the fourth angle corner (the "check" point), use your square to ensure it's square. If it is, you're good to proceed.

Client Management:

Please note that rushing your engineer or builder to complete the setting out process can lead to mistakes, which can result in building coll@pse. Allow them to concentrate and take their time to ensure accuracy. Avoid pressuring them to finish quickly, as this may compromise the quality of work."

I hope this helps?

Edge breaking in road pavement, also known as edge cracking or edge raveling, occurs due to several factors:

1. Insufficient Shoulder Support: If the road shoulders are not properly constructed or maintained, the edges of the pavement are unsupported and more prone to breaking under traffic loads.

2. Erosion: Water runoff can erode the soil supporting the pavement edge, leading to a loss of support and subsequent breaking.

3. Traffic Load: Vehicles, particularly heavy trucks, traveling close to the edge of the pavement exert significant stress on the unsupported edge, causing it to crack and break.

4. Poor Drainage: Inadequate drainage allows water to accumulate at the pavement edges, weakening the subgrade and base layers, leading to edge failure.

5. Narrow Roads: Roads that are too narrow force vehicles to drive close to the edge, increasing the stress and likelihood of edge breaking.

6. Vegetation: Roots from nearby plants and trees can grow underneath the pavement, disrupting the support and causing cracks and breaks at the edges.

7. Freeze-Thaw Cycles: Similar to other pavement issues, freeze-thaw cycles can cause expansion and contraction at the edges, leading to cracks and breaking.

8. Aging and Wear: Over time, the materials at the pavement edge can degrade and lose their structural integrity, making them more susceptible to breaking.

Regular maintenance, proper shoulder construction, adequate drainage, and managing vegetation near the roadway can help prevent edge breaking in road pavements.

The foundation depth of skyscrapers is a critical aspect of their structural design, as it determines the stability and safety of the building. The depth of the foundation for a skyscraper depends on various factors, including the height of the building, the type of soil and bedrock below the site, local building codes, and environmental conditions.

For tall buildings, especially skyscrapers, deeper foundations are usually required to ensure the structure can distribute the weight of the building safely to the ground. There are different types of foundations used for skyscrapers, including shallow foundations like spread footings or mat foundations, as well as deep foundations like piles or caissons.

In some cases, skyscrapers are built on sites with challenging soil conditions, such as soft clay or loose sand, which may necessitate even deeper foundations to reach more stable soil or bedrock layers. Engineers and architects work together to conduct thorough geotechnical investigations to determine the optimal foundation design for the specific site conditions.

The foundation depth of a skyscraper is a crucial consideration during the planning and construction phases to ensure the building's long-term stability and safety. Deep foundations are designed to transfer the loads from the building to the ground in a way that prevents settlement or excessive movement, thereby ensuring the structural integrity of the skyscraper.

TO BE A GREAT CEO

1. You must show Competence. Competence is if they give you work you get it done within the time & cost. Not just getting it done, get it done in time & within the expected expense because if you miss those you can do a job but you are less efficient. If you achieve a goal at a higher cost you've achieved a goal but you are less efficient but if you achieve a goal at a lower cost that you have budgeted you are more efficient.

2. You must have character - As you grow in business in a company, you'll get to a position of TRUST, where you get to know company secret, formula etc. The company can't put you in a position if they dont trust you.

Retaining walls are structures that are built to hold back soil or other materials and prevent them from sliding or eroding. There are many reasons why retaining walls may be necessary, such as:
- To prevent a slope from collapsing.
- To create level ground for a building or other structure.
- To create a raised garden bed or other landscape feature.
- To divert water away from a structure or area.
- To support a driveway or other paved surface.
- To create a barrier between two different types of soil.
