Compacting sand after filling in building work isn’t just a routine step—it’s what makes the foundation reliable and long-lasting. Here are some key essence of it:

1. Prevents settlement (sinking later)
Loose sand has a lot of air gaps. If you don’t compact it, the building load will compress it over time, leading to cracks in floors, walls, or even structural issues.

2. Increases strength and stability
Compaction packs the sand particles tightly together, giving the ground better load-bearing capacity. This ensures the structure above is properly supported.

3. Reduces voids and air pockets
Air spaces in loose fill can cause uneven support. Compaction removes these voids, making the base more uniform.
