Last night, Julius Berger hosted this year's Luminary Soirée: The Lagos Proposition — Unlocking Value in a City in Transformation.

Our Managing Director, Dr. Peer Lubasch, opened the evening by reminding guests why we chose the word "proposition", potential alone doesn't build a city, ex*****on does. It's a principle that has guided our work in Nigeria for nearly six decades, and one that shaped the conversation that followed.

We were honoured by the presence of the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, who set the tone with real candour. Moderated by Ayo Mairo-Ese, the evening's panel brought together Yomi Ademola, Chairman of Rendeavour and Alaro City, Kunle Adebajo, CEO of Arup Nigeria and President of ACEN, and Odunayo Ojo, CEO of UPDC Plc, three leaders whose work is actively shaping this city.

The discussion moved beyond the question of whether Lagos will grow, and into where that growth is durable, how public-private collaboration must scale, and what it means to build for the middle market and not only the top tier.

To all our guests, thank you for lending us your evening and your honesty. Conversations like these are exactly why we convene.

Progress is what happens when young minds are given the platform to think boldly, speak confidently and challenge ideas.

We are grateful to Nigeria Info 99.3 for the partnership and for providing a platform that empowers young people to find their voice, engage with ideas and develop the skills that will serve them well into the future.

After weeks of sharp arguments, bold rebuttals, and standout young voices, the Nigeria Info 99.3 "I Beg to Differ" Season 9 Tournament of Champions comes down to two schools: Government Day Secondary School, Karu, Abuja vs Square College, Lagos.

These students have out-argued, out-thought, and out-lasted a field of 16 of Nigeria's best secondary school debate teams to get here. Now, only one will be crowned National Champion.

At Julius Berger, investing in education is central to how we think about nation-building. As lead sponsor of this year's tournament, we're proud to support a platform that sharpens the critical thinking and communication skills of Nigeria's next generation, the same qualities that will shape our country's institutions and industries for years to come.

We're honoured to stand behind these young debaters and the schools that have championed them this season. Tune in as the future of Nigerian leadership takes the stage to make their case.

It started with a simple challenge: give Nigeria's brightest young engineers a real problem in construction and infrastructure, and see what they build.

Months later, 17 participating institutions and five finalist teams had taken on the challenge, designing practical, sustainable solutions for the sector that builds Nigeria. This August, in Lagos, the journey came full circle at the grand finale of the Julius Berger Innovation Challenge, held in partnership with Enactus Nigeria. Taking home the grand prize was the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), a testament to the calibre of talent emerging from Nigerian campuses.

To every student who competed and to Enactus Nigeria for the partnership, thank you for pushing the next generation of engineers to think boldly about the future of construction in Nigeria.
