Glulam was the ideal choice for two bridges we delivered in the Coromandel for Thames-Coromandel District Council.

The project involved constructing an 18m glulam bridge over the spillway at Flaxmill Bay and a 13m shared-use glulam bridge over Taputapuatea Stream (Mother Brown's Creek) in Whitianga. Both structures were designed to withstand demanding coastal conditions while sitting naturally within their surroundings.

Glulam offers the strength needed for longer spans, while its natural appearance helps these structures blend seamlessly into the landscape. Once the timber pile foundations were complete, both bridges were prefabricated and lifted into place, ensuring a high level of quality and efficiency during installation.

A few years on, these bridges are still doing exactly what they were designed to do: standing up to the coastal environment, carrying thousands of footsteps, and connecting people with some of the Coromandel's most beautiful places.

Not every project is a major boardwalk or bridge build.

This week we helped a client refresh their garden by replacing old macrocarpa edging. A small job, but one that makes a big difference to the overall look and keeps everything neat and defined.

Whether it's a large-scale infrastructure project or a smaller residential job, the same attention to detail goes into every build.

Hillbrook Estate Whangamata, WOW what a magic spot!

Here we built a brand-new access track from the accommodation to the private beach below.

We crafted 80 meters of inground stairs on a challenging 28-degree slope, 12 meters of boardwalk, and log steps crafted from windblown Pohutukawa logs, creating a harmonious blend with the Pohutukawa forest the path winds descends through.

We managed to smash this out in an incredible 5 days! Filled and capped with lime chip, this track is not just functional but a stunning addition to the landscape. Another job well done by the Keir Projects team!

We talk a lot about how our team is our greatest strength at Keir Projects - and Eru is a big part of that.

As our on-site skill builder and training lead, Eru's role is less about what he builds and more about who he builds up. He makes sure the crew have the skills and confidence to get stuck in - whether that's working through a new technique or stepping up into more responsibility on site.

Eight years of mahi with the team means he knows our projects, our standards, and our people. That experience counts for a lot on a busy job site.

Te Waihou is one of New Zealand’s most visited freshwater spots, and a place like this needs a careful approach.

Working alongside Raukawa and South Waikato District Council, we upgraded the full walkway from Leslie Road through to White’s Road and built a new viewing platform. Keeping the footprint light and respecting the environment every step of the way.

The track is open end to end. If you haven’t been, it’s worth the visit. 💧
