If you have found yourself in Taupo this long weekend or planning to visit this summer make sure to take a stroll (or bike) along the awesome trail at the lakefront and check out some of our handy work. It's absolutely worth your time to wander around to Two Mile Bay for a coffee and soak in the breathtaking scenery.

The project at the Taupo lakefront has transformed the area. We built the new boardwalks so they blend seamlessly into the natural landscape. The new pathway is 3-metres wide so you can enjoy your walk or bike along side family or groups of friends, and it's safe and comfortable for the wee ones to enjoy too.

When you get to Two Mile check out the viewing platform and take in the panoramic views of Lake Taupo. Perfect way to spend some time at the Great Lake.

Check out the before and after on this residential landscaping job the crew have been working on.

Down the side of the house, we leveled the access and formed up concrete steps with an exposed aggregate finish, leading through to the new gate. Out the front, the old lawn came out and fresh turf went in, with mulched garden beds, bay trees and a white gravel strip along the fence, all edged in brick.

Tidy, low maintenance and a big step up from where it started.

A predator-proof fence needs to be built right from end to end. Even the smallest weak point can let predators through, so getting every detail right is crucial.

At Waiwhakareke, the crew have been hard at it to make sure every stage of the build is done correctly, from the hood at the top that stops predators climbing over, to the skirt at the base so stop them climbing under. It’s about making sure the fence provides the protection it’s designed for.

Back in 2023, we built five elevated boardwalks through the Te Wairepo wetland at Ruakura Inland Port in Hamilton, working with Tainui and BBO.

Fast forward to today, and it’s great to see the wetland coming to life, with water birds, fish and mokomoko (lizards) making themselves at home in the 10ha reserve.

Our team was involved in the design and construction of the boardwalks, creating access through the wetland while allowing the surrounding environment to thrive.

It’s awesome to see how the site has developed and to have played a part in the project, a great example of infrastructure working alongside nature.

Josh and Jed have built Keir Projects side by side, and a big part of that comes down to the trust they have in each other. They know they can rely on one another and that the business is in good hands.

This is tucked away in the stunning Hillbrook Estate, it's the access track connecting the property to a private beach below. The crew worked their magic to make the journey down just as good as the destination!

The project included 80 metres of in-ground stairs on a steep 28-degree slope and a 12-metre boardwalk. We crafted the steps from windfallen pōhutukawa logs creating a track that flows naturally through the pōhutukawa forest, blending right into the landscape.

In just five days, we turned a rugged hillside into a scenic walkway, all finished with lime chip for a clean, polished look.

Spring is here in the Waikato, and it’s the perfect time to get back out and enjoy some of the region’s epic outdoor spaces ☀️

The Te Awa River Ride is a project the team worked on and completed back in 2022. Keir Projects worked alongside Base Civil Limited to deliver bridges, elevated boardwalks, and retaining through a sensitive and challenging environment.

A key feature of this section was the 32 m glulam truss bridge spanning the Mangaonoa Stream. Techlam NZ supplied the prefabricated glulam components provided a strong and durable solution, while allowing efficient installation in a difficult location.

Projects like this are about more than infrastructure. They’re about creating lasting, world-class spaces for people to walk, ride, and connect with the outdoors.
