Dream come true my wife and I are now living in our beautiful comfortable home on Huntsbury hill, Christchurch. You can see our journey to build this house on Grand Designs NZ (TVNZ on demand, season 10, episode 3). Something they didn't mention was that the house is Certified Passive House, and Homestar 10. This is a massive milestone for us. I have wanted to build my own straw bale house since I was 11. I used to watch Grand Designs with my mother as a teenager and remember loving Ben Law’s straw bale house; it's pretty amazing to reach this point now. It did take work, but I am so happy with the result! See the episode here

We are thrilled that another natural building will be showcased in this season 10 of Grand Designs NZ (episode 3). It includes strawbale walls, clay and lime plasters, earthen floors, art murals and more. Check it out this Sunday on TVNZ Channel 1, April 26th at 7.30pm. Members who came to the 2024 conference in Christchurch would have been there for a site visit half way through the build, now you will see the whole build process and the final reveal ! Congratulations to Lizzy and Everett for all their hard work.
