We recently helped a customer make the switch from a gas califont to a modern external hot water cylinder setup.

For this install, we ran a brand-new dedicated circuit directly from the switchboard through to a local isolation switch before connecting the new hot water system safely and compliantly.

Is your home’s safety stuck in the past? 🛑⚡

Another day, another switchboard upgrade here in Hamilton! 🛠️

We replaced these dated MCBs with a modern, fully compliant setup built for today’s high-demand homes.

The big difference? Those old MCBs (in the first photo) were designed to protect your cables from overheating, but they don't offer the same level of people protection as modern RCBOs.

By upgrading to individual RCBOs for every circuit (in the second photo), we’ve given this home the "Gold Standard" of protection.

Why this upgrade is a game-changer:
⚡ Total Protection: RCBOs monitor for "earth leakage"—they trip in milliseconds if they detect a fault, preventing potentially fatal shocks.
⚡ Better Fire Safety: Modern components are far more sensitive to overloads from high-power appliances like heat pumps and EVs.
⚡ Smart Isolation: If one circuit has a fault, only that switch trips. You won't be left in total darkness hunting for a torch!
⚡ Insurance & Compliance: All work is done to AS/NZS 3000 standards, and a digital Certificate of Compliance (CoC) was issued on the spot.

A close call in Western Heights today.
I came across this disaster during a fault finding. The combination of transposed Neutral and Earth and exposed copper strands is a major fire risk on its own. However, seeing this situated directly next to a gas valve makes it an incredibly dangerous situation for any household.

The good news is that the site is now safe. I have replaced the faulty socket and performed a full suite of tests to ensure everything is functioning correctly and meets all New Zealand safety standards.

If you have recently moved into a new home or have not had your electrical connections checked in years, it is well worth a professional look. Your safety is not worth the risk of a "she will be right" approach to wiring.

A recent job involved replacing a rangehood that had stopped working and updating some lighting in the lounge.

The old rangehood was removed and replaced with a new unit to get the kitchen back to doing its job properly, clearing steam, smoke, and cooking smells. While on site we also replaced two older track light fittings in the lounge with updated versions to keep everything looking clean and modern.

Small upgrades like this can make a big difference to how a home functions day to day.

Bringing the breeze indoors 💨
We installed new ceiling fans in a master bedroom and a second bedroom to help keep things cool and comfortable through the warmer nights. Good airflow makes a huge difference for sleeping, and modern fans are quiet, efficient and much cheaper to run than air con.

A simple upgrade that brings big comfort, especially during a Waikato summer.

🌙 Cooler Sleep, Lower Bills

We installed a new ceiling fan for one of our customers to help tackle those hot summer nights.

Another big upgrade for our mates Te Mata Steel Works 💡
We replaced six old lightbulb holders with crisp new 1500mm LED battens so no more dark corners in this shed! The new lighting gives the whole workspace a bright, even glow that makes a huge difference for visibility and safety.

We also added a few new power points to make things more practical and convenient for their day-to-day work. It’s a simple change that really transforms how a space feels and functions ⚡

Bringing New Light to the Heart of the Home 💡

This kitchen got a full glow-up! The old fittings and track lights were swapped out for six sleek LED downlights, giving the space a brighter, more even light that really shows off the new design.

We also upgraded the dining area with two new LED downlights, replaced the lounge fittings with modern LED versions, and added new power points and isolation switches throughout. ⚡ The old range setup was split into a new oven and hob with a discreet extractor fan hidden in the cabinetry. Clean, quiet, and efficient.

Lighting plays such a big part in how a renovation feels, and we’re stoked with how this one turned out. 🔧

Shining a little extra light on home security 🔦

Break-ins are the worst. One of our customers didn't want to be targeted and asked us to help brighten up the outside of their home. We installed two brand new security spotlights and replaced an old broken one, so now their property is lit up like it should be.
