Stage two at Dargaville High School completed!

The second stage of the planting is done and there was plenty to get in the ground! Really enjoyed working on this one and love the mix of plants that have gone into these gardens.
We used Nikau palms for height, Euonymus ‘Emerald Gem’ as a lovely low hedge, Ficus Tuffi as a taller hedge towards the back and Senecio ‘Blue Chalk Sticks’ for a beautiful low ground cover. Ligularia reniformis ‘Tractor Seat’ and Lomandra ‘Lime Tuff’.

1,055 native plants planted in their new home 💚

A mix of Mānuka, Kānuka, Karamū, Karo and flax were planted across this property. It’ll be awesome seeing these plants grow and fill out over the coming years when I head back to site for maintenance.

A big thanks to Mikayla Dowson for supplying the plants. They’re absolutely beautiful plants with really healthy root systems. If you’re looking for plants for your own project, definitely get in touch with her! 🌱

Making the most of this run of beautiful winter weather! ☀️

This property was sprayed using a 200L petrol sprayer in preparation for an upcoming native planting project. Getting on top of the weeds beforehand gives the new plants the best possible start and helps them establish with less competition.

If you’re planning a native planting or have an area that needs preparing, now’s a great time to get it sorted before spring.

A few before and afters from a property I’ve been working on.

The first step was brush cutting and spraying around two years of thick kikuyu growth to get the area under control. The after photos were taken three weeks later, when I returned for a follow-up spray to knock down any regrowth before moving onto the next stage.

Good site preparation makes a huge difference, and now it’s ready for coco matting, mulching, and planting.

Looking forward to seeing this one transformed over the coming months!

Another bank being planted up 🪏

We planted a mix of beautiful Grevillea Bronze Rambler and Coprosma Kirkii (plants sourced from Greenspace Plants) to create a dense, spreading ground cover. Over time, these plants will knit together to provide excellent coverage, improve the look of the driveway entrance, and reduce ongoing maintenance.

Recently finished up this bank planting using a mix of lomandra, carex, coprosma and toe toe, all sourced from Greenspace Plants

Really happy with how this one turned out, it should fill out nicely over time and soften the area up while still being low maintenance and practical.

A fresh layer of forest floor mulch and a tidy can really sharpen up a space.

Completed a general clean-up through this area and finished it off with mulch for a cleaner, lower-maintenance finish.
