Alexander is supporting awesomeness! ✨ We're proud to back Nuit Blanche - Art After Dark this Saturday 3 October, a night for Hawke's Bay to come together, celebrate local talent and have some fun. Catch the Alexander Construction Stage on Herschell Street from 5.30pm. See you there! 🎶

For nearly 80 years, Alexander has been building Hawke's Bay's landmarks. But we're just as proud of saving them.

The Beacons on State Highway 2 have guided seafarers and travellers home to Napier for over 120 years and are the first reinforced concrete structures to built in New Zealand. They're a genuine piece of regional history, and right now, they need help.

Our Director Mark Hamilton is the current Chairperson of the Restore the Beacons trust, working to bring these two icons back to their former glory before it's too late.

A huge thanks to Simon Dunn and the team at Wallace Development Company Limited. Simon was the first community person to back this cause with a donation and support with getting the message out there. If you or your organisation can contribute, every bit helps.

This gorgeous rocking elephant is guaranteed to become a treasured heirloom in any young family's home. Beautifully crafted from quality plywood with a striking charcoal and natural timber finish, this is no ordinary nursery toy — it's a work of love, skill, and community spirit.

Hand-built by the talented team at Alexander Construction , this one-of-a-kind rocking elephant features smooth sculpted edges and a secure saddle seat.
Safe, sturdy, and utterly charming, this quality piece is perfect for little ones ready to embark on their first big adventures — even if those adventures are just across the nursery floor.

All proceeds from this lot go directly to supporting HB Youth Trust — so when you bid on this beautiful piece, you're not just taking home something wonderful, you're helping shape the future of young people right here in Hawke's Bay.

Bid now to avoid disappointment! https://app.galabid.com/giants2026/items

The auction closes at 8.30pm on Saturday 20th June.

BCITO Graduation - Congratulations Dylan, Ethan & Stefan!

We are thrilled to celebrate Dylan, Ethan and Stefan, who officially graduated through BCITO at their graduation ceremony last month.

Three more legends coming through the Alexander Academy of Awesomeness. We're stoked for you all.

Qualifying as a carpenter isn't handed to you. It takes early mornings, hard graft, learning on the tools, and a real commitment to getting better every day. These three have done exactly that, and we couldn't be prouder.

A big part of that journey is the support around them. Through mentoring, coaching, and the backing of an awesome team, our Academy of Awesomeness Apprenticeship Programme is built to help our people go all the way - and that's exactly what these three have done.

We also want to take a moment to celebrate the Taylor family. Ethan is the third generation of Taylors who have proudly worked for Alexander. A legacy we're honoured to be part of. It says everything about the kind of company we are and the people who make us that way.

Congratulations team. On to the next chapter. 🙌

What a wonderful initiative from our team at Alexander joinery! And how awesome that these handcrafted elephants have found their way right across the country - from Hawke's Bay to Starship and beyond!

We are all set to get the tools out and get moving with the team at Notman Motor Group next week.
Watch this space - more Awesomeness is being built!

We're thrilled to have received a Gold Award at this year's New Zealand Master Builders Association Awards in the Heritage category – for the restoration of Napier’s (former) Women’s Rest, Memorial Square.

"This project meant a lot to us. There's something special about working on a build that carries real history — one that connects people to where they come from. We brought genuine care to every stage of the work, and it's really rewarding to see that recognised" – Daniel Rongonui , Project Manager

Watching it come to life and knowing it now serves the community as a restored, functional space in the heart of Napier — that's what makes the work worthwhile.

A sincere thank you to our team, our subbies, and our clients (a list so long Facebook won't let us tag you all!)

This one belongs to all of you!
