Arkhē has opened a second studio, in Ōtautahi Christchurch.

Papāmoa continues. The North Island work carries on — projects from Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington to Ahipara in the Far North.

In the south, the studio is open for new work across Waitaha Canterbury and Te Waipounamu the South Island — the alpine and rural ground this practice has long designed toward. Every project starts with a conversation.

To the west, the elevation opens generously to the harbour through full-height glazing. Tempering the afternoon sun and exposure that come with it, a deep verandah—drawn from the coastal bach vernacular of the eastern Bay of Plenty—shades the glass, while a layer of operable timber screens modulates light and privacy across it.

A coastal home that opens to the harbour—or quietly closes against it.
The west elevation is full-height glass, holding the outlook across Ōhiwa Harbour. A deep verandah and a layer of operable timber screens temper the afternoon sun and exposure that come with it.
Slid open, the screens dissolve the line between living and water. Drawn closed, the same elevation reads as a calm, textured timber wall—one façade, tuned to the season and the hour.
Quiet, unpretentious, and grounded in the bach vernacular of the eastern Bay of Plenty.
