Although we were called out and diagnosed the fault by 2am Wednesday morning, this one wasn't on as much of a time crunch thanks to our chiller trailer!

We managed to load up the trailer with the chillers contents and were right into it the following morning with a solution.

Some jobs just can’t wait until morning.

Monday avo at 3.30pm we received a call from a client up north with milk taking a very long time to chill. A refrigerant leak had developed through the compressor electrical terminals, caused by corrosion and rust.

With a full vat of milk relying on the refrigeration, we got stuck in and replaced the old Patton packaged unit with a new Ryker condensing unit, completing the refrigeration and electrical work before commissioning it back into service.

After few hours, coffee, and a solid nights work, we were climbing into bed around 6am on Tuesday morning as everyone else was just getting up for work.

The important part — the milk was saved.

Commercial freezer project for South Kaipara Good Food

Another project completed for South Kaipara Good Food , a long-standing Sambar Electrical & Refrigeration client.

This installation showcases a practical, cost-effective approach using carefully selected second-hand insulated freezer panels, reworked and installed to deliver a clean, professional commercial finish without compromising performance.

The existing panels were assessed, reconfigured, and installed to suit a footprint designed by us, with the front-facing panels matched and aligned for a more consistent, commercial-grade appearance. Selected surfaces were then prepared, filled where required, and finished in a 'machine white' coating to achieve a clean, uniform look.

The project included:

- Custom panel work and paint work
- Reconfiguration and installation of existing insulated panels
- Insulated freezer floor construction
- Commercial freezer door installation
- Aluminium checker-plate flooring
- Commercial refrigeration system installation designed and spec'ed by us
- Copeland electronic temperature control
- Internal lighting and full electrical works
- Final testing and temperature calibration

The completed freezer is operating at approximately -18°C, providing reliable frozen storage for ongoing commercial use.

We understand that not every project requires a full new build. With the right technical expertise, existing materials and systems can be repurposed and upgraded to commercial standard, reducing overall project cost while still achieving a professional, long-lasting result.

Huge shout-out to BARK NZ!

We just wanted to give a bit of recognition to the awesome work BARK NZ are doing in our communities.

Teaching kids how to safely understand, approach and interact with dogs is hugely important, and the work BARK NZ does to build that awareness from a young age is bloody awesome.

It’s one of those things that can make a genuine difference - helping kids feel confident around dogs, while also helping keep both kids and dogs safe.

A massive thank you to everyone involved with BARK NZ for the time, effort and passion you put into what you do.

Blocked and dirty filters restrict airflow, make the system work harder, reduce performance and can contribute to higher running costs and unnecessary wear on the equipment.
These filters had gone well past the point where a clean was going to cut it, so we replaced the filter media and got the airflow back to where it should be.
A small part of the system, but an important one.
Regular servicing and filter maintenance can make a big difference to the performance and life of your HVAC equipment.

From planning and design through to installation, commissioning, diagnostics, fault finding and repairs, Aaron is involved every step of the way. We don't take shortcuts, and we believe that being involved from the beginning through to completion is what allows us to deliver the standard of work we expect.

An example of this is this refrigeration system, which had reached the end of its useful life after previous repairs. Following a thorough assessment, we determined that continued repairs were no longer a practical or reliable option, and a complete system replacement was the right solution.

The existing equipment was removed and a new refrigeration system installed, including the condensing unit, evaporator and associated refrigeration pipework. The system was then thoroughly checked, commissioned and tested to ensure it was operating correctly.

The photos give a little insight into the process - including Aaron himself getting stuck into the installation.

Whether it's designing a new system, tracking down a difficult fault or carrying out the final checks on an installation, Aaron remains hands-on throughout the process.
