Something a bit different from our exterior plastering team on this homestead extension!

The existing home has a traditional hand thrown roughcast texture. It’s a finish you still see around on older homes, but getting the opportunity to apply it new and match it back into an existing homestead isn’t something that comes along every day.

Our team recreated the texture by hand across the new extension, working to keep the same look and character as the original plaster. We also built out the foundation plinth to match the existing home, helping the extension sit naturally alongside the original.

A nice job for the team to put some of those traditional plastering skills to work, and great to see the new and old come together so well.

A look through one of our current new builds out the back of Waimate, where our stopping team have recently wrapped up the interior.

There’s plenty of detail in this one, from the large open-plan spaces and high ceilings through to the recessed ceiling features, bulkheads and the numerous internal angles throughout.

Jobs like this really show the importance of quality stopping. Getting those lines sharp, surfaces consistent and all the finer details right gives our painters the best possible base to work from.

Our painters are in there now getting underway, and with the quality of the build and those views across the Waimate countryside, this will be an impressive home when it’s finished.

A pretty special result for our team on Friday night, taking home the Workplace Safety Award at the South Canterbury Business & Community Excellence Awards!

A lot of the credit for this one goes to our Health & Safety Manager, Laura.

Many of our clients, builders and other trades will have crossed paths with Laura on site over the years. She’s incredibly passionate about what she does and puts a huge amount of work into making sure health and safety isn’t just paperwork or something we have to do. It’s genuinely part of how we operate at TMG.

There’s plenty that happens behind the scenes, but she’s also regularly out on our sites, working alongside the team and making sure we’re continually improving the way we do things.

Of course, good systems only work when people buy into them, so this is also great recognition for our whole team who follow those practices every day and look out for each other on site.

To have that recognised at a regional level is pretty awesome! Well done Laura. A very well deserved bit of recognition for the passion and effort you put into keeping our team safe!

This wallpaper was well worth a closer look!

Recently installed in a client’s dining area by Darren from our painting team, it has a heavily textured, ribbed finish that gives it an almost fabric-like appearance. The deep, warm colour works particularly well with the texture, changing in depth as the natural light moves across the walls.

It’s a great example of what can be achieved with wallpaper beyond the usual patterns and prints. Different textures and finishes can completely change the feel of a room, and with a paper like this, getting the preparation, joins and finishing right makes all the difference.

A great choice from our clients and some quality work from Darren on the install.

We don't often get to see the finished homes we've worked on, so seeing this one shared by Fraemohs Homes was pretty special.

It's always rewarding to look back and see how every trade has contributed to creating a beautiful home. Our team was proud to be involved, completing the interior plastering throughout, the installation of the Classic Stone features inside and out, and the exterior plastering.

Thanks to Fraemohs Homes for sharing this stunning project in Twizel. We're proud to have played our part, and it's a great reflection of the quality and craftsmanship that goes into every build.

Love seeing this!

While women are still underrepresented in the trades, we're proud to have five on the tools in our paint team. They're talented painters, great teammates, and a valued part of what we do every day.

Here's to all the women out there building careers in the trades. We love seeing the industry continue to grow and evolve.

As a woman within this industry (Olivia) there is nothing better than seeing other women in the trades and on site. So when I found not only one, but two painters on site for Todd Mudie Group, I was so impressed! Plus their work is impeccable! 🤩

While there is around 15% of women within the industry, only 3% are on the tools 😱

Hazel and Tarra have done an outstanding job on these three feature walls for a new salon, creating a finish that's full of depth, movement and character.

Using the colours Happy Valley and Heaphy Track, the layered effect catches the light beautifully, revealing something different from every angle and creating a real feature within the space.

With the client working towards opening next week, there was a tight turnaround to get everything completed on schedule. Thanks to the team's planning, attention to detail and commitment to delivering on time, everything was finished and ready for the next stage of the fit-out.

A great effort by Hazel and Tarra. We can't wait to see the salon complete and ready to welcome its first clients.

This Marchwiel home was given a new lease on life before heading to market.

Some projects are made for the Mackenzie.

These photos from a recent Classic Stone installation in Tekapo couldn't have been timed any better. With fresh snow covering the landscape, the Mountain Ledgestone profile in the Tarras colour, laid in a tight-fit pattern, looks right at home in its alpine surroundings.

One of the things we enjoy most about looking back at completed projects is seeing how they settle into the landscape through the seasons. The texture and depth of the stone finish really come to life against the winter backdrop, and these photos capture that perfectly.
