AgPower Shelter Trimming Contractors are looking for a mechanically minded operator to run one of our specialist shelterbelt trimming machines.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with machinery and takes pride in operating equipment well.
The machine is one of the most capable shelterbelt trimmers in New Zealand and the right person will be trained to operate and maintain it properly.
We’re looking for someone who is:
• mechanically minded
• reliable and practical
• enjoys working with machinery
• keen to learn a specialised skill.
Backgrounds that often suit this role include:
• agricultural machinery operators
• forestry workers
• farm contractors
• mechanically minded farm workers.
The role involves travelling to rural properties trimming shelterbelts and maintaining the machine.

🌱 Turning tops into soil health!
These trees were boxed up into a neat hedge, and the rest went straight through the mulcher. With tops up to 4” in diameter, the mulcher handled them with ease — chewing them up and turning them into fine chip.

Not only does this leave the property tidy, but that chip will break down and help build healthy, nutrient-rich soil.

🌳 From hazard to firewood — in minutes!
This rugged old macrocarpa was absolutely full of widow-makers — an arborist’s nightmare.

But it was no match for our Merc trimmer. In just minutes, it was safely reduced to a neat pile of firewood, with all the danger taken out of the equation.

Another tough job handled with speed, safety, and the right equipment.

In this Woodville nursery, we tackled a total of 5 km of shelter tops, cutting them down to size so the customer could get better signal for their precision planting equipment to communicate with the base station.

Another shelter trimmer had a go, but the job was just too tough. With the right gear and experience, we trimmed it all, piled up the slash with the loader, and had the place cleaned up in just a week.

There was so much slash it took the customer a year to burn it all — but the trimming and clean-up? That was the easy part for us.

While we were on-site trimming shelter belts for a customer, a strong gust brought down a large poplar tree, completely blocking their driveway.

They didn’t have the gear to deal with it — but we did. 💪
With the right equipment and experience, we cleared the tree quickly and got them back on the move.
