Last week WorkSafe announced that inspectors will be visiting residential building sites from now until December. Their main focus will be on how businesses are mitigating the risk of falling from height whilst on site.
Falls from height cause around 4 deaths and 100 serious injuries every year. Ladders are involved in about 40% of fall injuries in construction. 70% of prohibition notices in construction over the past two years were about fall risks
Often, the thing that catches people out is the "it's only a quick job" mindset. WorkSafe is clear that if someone could fall, the controls need to be there, whether the job takes five hours or five weeks.
We've put together a quick rundown of what inspectors will be looking for, plus a short checklist you can use while walking around your site in preparation.

If you've got a build, paint job, or reno coming up, give us a call before the job starts and we'll sort the scaffold to suit the work and help keep your site safe.
