Surrey Rd Watermain upgrade with Fulton Hogan , taking care of the drilling and welding
Two important infrastructure projects in Springvale are helping strengthen the area's drinking water and wastewater services and support future growth.
We’ve recently completed the Totara Street wastewater upgrade, which improves the capacity and reliability of the network so it can better support existing homes as well as planned growth in the area. With the extension of Fitzherbert Avenue through to Mosston Road opening up land for future housing, it was important to upgrade the existing pipe – which was the only one servicing this area and didn’t have the capacity needed. More than 100 metres of pipe has now been replaced to help meet future demand.
We’ve also started work on Surrey Road to upgrade part of the drinking water network. The current 1km main between Chester Road and Parsons Street has reached the end of its useful life, so we’re replacing it with a new, larger and more durable pipe. This will help improve water flow and pressure, while reducing the chances of leaks, bursts and unexpected outages. You may notice some temporary road closures to keep contractors and the community safe.
Thanks for your patience while we get this work done. Found out more info on our website - www.whanganui.govt.nz/projects
