The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)'s Annual Assurance Activity, or โSupervision Missionโ, for the DENR-FMB-FAO-GEF 6 Forest and Landscape Restoration (FLR) Project was conducted last 2-4 June 2026, in the Pantabangan-Carranglan Watershed Forest Reserve (PCWFR) to review and assess the progress of the FLR implementation on the ground.
The mission commenced with courtesy meetings with representatives from the DENR FMB, Biodiversity Management Bureau, and Foreign-Assisted and Special Projects Service, including Undersecretary Analiza Rebuelta-Teh and Assistant Secretary Hiro V. Masuda, where discussions focused on future GEF Cycle programming and the proposed scaling-up of FLR initiatives. This was followed by a courtesy call with the DENR Region III Office.
A key highlight of the mission was the visit to project sites and engagements with partner Peopleโs Organizations (POs) in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija together with partners from the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB), to assess the progress of restoration activities and discuss challenges encountered on the ground.
The mission team also met with the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Carranglan and Pantabangan, as well as representatives from First Gen Corporation, to strengthen existing partnerships and explore opportunities to further support the POs and advance project implementation.
These activities form part of the Projectโs continuing efforts to monitor progress, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and prepare for the upcoming Midterm Review.
