We’ve been exploring how sound can influence the way a house is designed. The project sits on a corner lot facing a school, with two neighboring houses on either side. Instead of treating noise as something to simply block out, we’re asking how architecture can shape the sounds we choose to keep and the ones we let fade away.

Unlike light or materials, sound is often disregarded in architecture. It’s invisible, difficult to control, and constantly changing depending on people, activity, and the environment. Its unpredictability makes it one of the most overlooked aspects of spatial design.

Through planning, ceiling forms, and material choices, we’re exploring how architecture can create spaces that support better conversations, deeper focus, and quieter moments, while allowing social spaces to feel lively and connected when family and friends come together.

Sometimes, the most meaningful part of architecture isn’t only what we see, but also what we hear.
