Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto saves ₱1B every year without raising taxes, while DOF Sec. Ralph Recto is proposing to increase capital gains, donor’s & estate taxes from 6% to 10% to collect ₱300B by 2030.
Pasig shows that when public funds are managed properly, tax hikes are unnecessary. Thru transparency & firm governance, Mayor Vico delivers real savings without adding burden to the people.
Taxation should be the last resort, not the first solution. Fix the system 1st. Serve the people 1st.
In contrast, Ralph Recto’s solution is to demand more from taxpayers instead of fixing the system.
The issue is not low taxes; it's poor governance.
A government that fails to manage existing resources has no right to ask for more.
Higher taxes will not solve corruption; good leadership will.
