The Aeta’s Electrification Thru Application of Solar Power (AETAS) Project of RMTU-Electrical Engineering Society (RMTU-EES) in the resettlement community of Sitio Sta. Martha, Pangolingan, Palauig, Zambales manifests the application of free alternative sources of energy in remote areas. Martha is approximately 25 kilometers from the national road with more than a hundred families of Aetas. There

is no distribution line for electricity and residents live below poverty. The AETAS project has three phases: Phase 1 includes the installation of Solar Power Charging Station and distribution of free 30 rechargeable LED lamps; Phase 2 aims to distribute additional 90 lamps, two more batteries, one inverter, and two charging boards; and Phase 3 aims to install a “pico-hydro” generator. RMTU-EES aims to provide the community with alternative electricity source both from the sun and strong flow of irrigation water. Other activities include literacy programs, Paraisong Pambata, free feeding, and livelihood projects.
