TOKYO, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Japan's NEC received multiple buyout offers from global private equity funds for iPhone supplier Japan Aviation Electronics Industry (6807.T), opens new tab before agreeing to sell back much of its 51% stake to the Japanese company at a discount, five people said.
At least three global funds all made offers to both NEC and its listed subsidiary JAE, indicating they were willing to pay substantial premiums to buy out the maker of electronics components, the people said, all of whom declined to be identified because the talks were private.

BENGALURU, Feb 11 (Reuters) - Israel's Tower Semiconductor (TSEM.TA), opens new tab has submitted a proposal to India's government to build an $8 billion chipmaking facility in the South Asian nation, national daily Indian Express reported on Sunday.
Tower, seeking government incentives for its plan, is looking to manufacture 65 nanometre and 40 nanometre chips in India, the report said.
The company and India's IT ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Elon Musk's Neuralink implants brain chip in first human

The first human patient has received an implant from brain-chip startup Neuralink on Sunday and is recovering well, the company's billionaire founder Elon Musk said.
"Initial results show promising neuron spike detection," Musk said in a post on the social media platform X on Monday.
Spikes are activity by neurons, which the National Institute of Health describes as cells that use electrical and chemical signals to send information around the brain and to the body.

Apple (AAPL.O), opens new tab on Tuesday asked a London tribunal to throw out a mass lawsuit valued at around $1 billion brought on behalf of more than 1,500 app developers over its App Store fees.
The case, worth up to 785 million pounds ($998 million) and one of several faced by the tech giant in the United Kingdom, alleges Apple charged third-party developers unfair commissions of up to 30% on purchases of apps or other content.

Jan 23 (Reuters) - Swedish telecoms equipment maker Ericsson (ERICb.ST), opens new tab said on Tuesday it appointed Lars Sandstrom as its new chief financial officer, replacing long-time company veteran Carl Mellander.
Sandstrom will join the company on April 1, and be based in Sweden, Ericsson said in a statement.
Newly appointed Sandstrom is currently the CFO and a member of the executive team at Getinge (GETIb.ST), opens new tab, where he has been working since 2017.
