The bar for wastewater testing just got higher.

ZDHC's updated Wastewater & Sludge (WW&S) Guidelines V2 introduce more rigorous requirements designed to strengthen testing quality, transparency, and confidence in environmental performance data.

To support customers through this transition, Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Vietnam has been approved under the new framework, becoming the first laboratory in the Bureau Veritas network to receive WW&S V2 approval.

For manufacturers and brands, the benefit is straightforward: access to testing services aligned with the latest ZDHC requirements and greater confidence in the data used to demonstrate environmental compliance and sustainability performance.

For most manufacturers, the practical journey of ESG begins with a supplier scorecard.

That observation, shared by Diep Tran, Southeast Asia Sustainability Development Project Manager, captured a shift many electronics manufacturers are experiencing today.

At the Vietnam Electronics Forum 2026, discussions highlighted how sustainability requirements are becoming part of supplier selection, performance evaluation, and sourcing decisions. Buyers are increasingly looking for measurable ESG performance, trustworthy data, and greater transparency across supply chains.

Alongside Phong Nguyen, Sustainability Manager at Bureau Veritas Vietnam, Diep shared perspectives on how manufacturers can prepare for evolving expectations, including the growing importance of traceability, product data, and upcoming requirements such as the Digital Product Passport under the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

As sustainability requirements become more closely tied to commercial opportunities, the question is no longer whether ESG matters. The challenge for manufacturers is how to turn requirements into data, evidence, and actions that customers can trust.

Preparing for the Materials Matter Standard (MMS): What Organizations Need to Know?

Textile Exchange's Materials Matter Standard (MMS) marks a significant evolution in the certification and management of recycled and responsibly sourced materials. As MMS is progressively introduced, organizations currently certified to standards such as GRS, RCS, RWS, RMS and RAS should begin evaluating how the transition may impact their operations, certification strategy and customer requirements.

Why is this transition important?
• Existing certification programs are evolving
MMS will gradually replace several current Textile Exchange standards under the official transition roadmap, requiring certified organizations to plan for future compliance requirements.

• Customer and market expectations are changing
Brands and retailers are increasingly focusing on consistent approaches to responsible material sourcing and traceability. Understanding MMS early can help organizations stay aligned with evolving supply chain expectations.

• Preparation takes time
Organizations will need to assess operational impacts, understand updated certification requirements, and develop transition plans that support business continuity and compliance objectives.

Key dates to note
• MMS is scheduled to become effective on 31 December 2026
• Organizations will no longer be audited against legacy standards within applicable scopes after 31 December 2027

Let’s join our upcoming webinar: Materials Matter Standard (MMS): Understanding the Changes and Preparing Early to gain insights into the MMS framework, transition policies, certification implications, and the latest updates to the BV ONE-SOURCE CONNECT platform.
