Sometimes pasture management starts with a bag of grass. 🌱
We’re sending samples from Juniper Farm to Equi-Analytical for NSC and nutritional analysis because we want to know what’s actually growing out there — not just what we think is growing.
This is one of those things that started because of Archie. Managing a horse with metabolic concerns made us ask a LOT more questions about grass, forage and pasture management. And the more we learned, the more we realized how much information you can get when you stop guessing and start testing.
We’ve tested the soil. Now… we test the forage. We want to understand what we’re growing, what the horses are eating and how all of those pieces work together.
We certainly don’t have all the answers — that’s part of what makes this interesting. But we’re big believers in getting the best information we can, using it to make better decisions and having better conversations.
Today’s data collection just happens to fit in a Ziploc bag. 😂🌱
