What’s your favorite feature in this kitchen remodel? The star of the entire show might be those multi-textured “champaign” colored door and drawer pulls! Or maybe it’s the farmhouse sink?

It’s been such a fun week installing these cabinets as part of a larger full house remodel. The cabinets were ordered from the local “big box” store and came custom painted — a nice economical option that should stand up for a long time.

It may not seem like much, but there was a lot of thoughtful detail involved in this project.

A boring void on the side of a fireplace has been filled with a custom cabinet that includes an extra deep pullout drawer with over two feet of storage from front to back — including full extension drawer slides that are hidden underneath the drawer and have the soft close feature. And don’t forget the beautiful natural maple drawer front.

The face frames and shaker style doors are designed and stained to match the existing red oak and darker tones around the fireplace and in the room. And last but not least — thanks to a Google lens search using a picture of existing handles in the living room — these small doors have the exact same type of handles, only brand new and a lot shinier.

Recently I was able to install a new set of cabinets for a kitchen that’s about to see some serious baking projects—including a beautiful double-oven setup. 👨‍🍳🔥

These cabinets were ordered from a store, not custom-built, and that’s something I think more people should know:

You don’t always need fully custom cabinets to get a great result! Sometimes the most economical option is buying a pre-made set. But… installing them is definitely not as simple as “just screw them to the wall.”

There are lots of modifications, adjustments, and fine details that go into making store-bought cabinets look custom, function properly, and last for years. From leveling and trimming to fitting around appliances and ensuring everything lines up perfectly—those little steps make all the difference.

Turning awkward spaces into actually usable storage is one of my favorite kinds of projects 🙌

This pantry had a strange shape that made the deep and narrow shelves almost impossible to utilize.

✨ Beautiful and durable Maple hardwood drawers.
✨ Extra-long pull-outs so every inch is accessible
✨ Modified fixed shelves designed for full access to the space.
✨ Smooth, sturdy and concealed hardware that can handle the weight of a fully loaded pantry
