Sometimes the best move is the one you don’t make. This Rose Hill family needed more room, but they didn’t need a new zip code, they just needed a smarter footprint. So instead of moving, we built out. New square footage, same street they love, same walk to everything that made them choose this neighborhood in the first place. There’s something so satisfying about classic white subway tile done right. This Old Town bathroom leans into timeless design with clean lines, that signature brick-lay pattern, and a grab bar that proves accessibility and elegance aren’t mutually exclusive.
Good design works for everyone.

This one’s a little different from what you usually see from us.
I grew up in the mountains of Southwest Virginia and some of my happiest childhood memories were made in the Smoky Mountains visiting Dollywood. That’s where my love for Dolly Parton started and she was a hero of mine from the time I was a little girl.
As I got older and especially as I started and grew my own business as a woman in an industry that isn’t exactly full of us, that admiration turned into something deeper. Dolly built an empire from nothing, without ever losing what made her Dolly. She was compassionate, non-judgmental, always looking to be the good in the world and an incredibly hardworking woman. She showed a lot of us that you can be soft hearted and steel willed at the same time and that’s a lesson I’ve carried with me every day running MHD Builds.
Today her family announced her passing and said she was “a light.” From one mountain girl to another, I can’t think of a truer word for her.
Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for everything you gave us.

Watching a kitchen come together is one of our favorite parts of this job!
This Del Ray kitchen is getting beautiful walnut cabinetry and it has us stopping us in our tracks. Nothing beats the warmth of real wood.

Warwick Village charm, meet room to grow.
This two-story addition started with a simple ask for more space, without losing what made this home feel like home. The result was a new basement entrance leading to finished living space below a sun-filled family room, full bath, and mudroom on the main level, plus a new driveway with a retaining wall to tie it all together.
And because we always build for what’s next, this addition was designed and structurally ready for a future second story, whenever our clients are ready for it.
