James Althoff has joined us as Vice President of Business Development and Strategy. With more than 20 years in utility infrastructure and mission-critical construction, James has built a career on trust, discipline, and results. Most recently, he led business development for a national utility infrastructure contractor, helping drive company-wide growth strategy and market expansion.

James's experience opening new markets and building lasting partnerships will play a key role as we strategically expand and provide additional solutions to our current and new customers.

Fleet Mechanic Needed!!
Divergent Alliance | Edwardsburg, MI (On-Site)

About the Role

Divergent Alliance is hiring an experienced Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair our utility fleet out of the Edwardsburg, MI yard. This is a hands-on role covering aerial/utility equipment and light- to medium-duty trucks. The company provides an equipped mechanic truck, diagnostic equipment, and all large equipment and specialty tooling. Hand tools are expected to be provided by the mechanic.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (one-hour unpaid lunch)
Reports to: Fleet Manager
Pay: $45/hr, based on experience and CDL, plus available overtime
Target Start: September 2026

Required Experience

- Proficient in utility equipment repair, Altec and Terex aerial devices and digger derricks
- Proficient in light- and medium-duty engine repair
- Strong working knowledge of modern diesel engines and emissions control systems (DPF, DEF/SCR, EGR, regens)
- Driveline, chassis, suspension, and brake repair
- Body and HVAC repair and diagnostics
- Ability to diagnose with OEM and aftermarket scan tools
- Valid CDL Class A/B with clean MVR
- Own hand tools
- Proficiency or willingness to learn modern fleet repair/work order software applications

Storm Response Requirement

This position supports storm restoration events. The mechanic must be available to deploy on short notice, including nights, weekends, and extended stays away from home. Overtime during storm events is plentiful, and lodging and meals are covered while deployed. Willingness to travel on short notice is a firm requirement of the job, not an occasional request.

Congratulations to Scott Re on his promotion to Director of Safety & Culture!

Scott has spent his time with the organization building his reputation in the field, in the yards, and on the phone long after the working day is done. He's worked to turn safety from something people complied with into something people own, and now he'll carry that mission further, with this promotion.

However, Scott will be the first to tell you safety isn't his job. It's everyone's. Every person on our teams has the authority to stop a job on the spot if something isn't right. No questions asked.

This Father's Day, Divergent Alliance has hundreds of crews working all across New York. This past few weeks they have been from Michigan to New Jersey to Pennsylvania to New York, and they are still going. To all the crews out there working: THANK YOU!! We understand what a sacrifice it is to be working on a day meant to celebrate your incredibly important roles in your families. We do not take that sacrifice lightly.
