Good evening everyone!!

We have been assisting homeowners all throughout the DFW after the recent storms and have noticed a few concerning issues. Most notably, contractors are not tarping roofs or preventing further damage. The entire point of a roofing inspection is to document damages and to mitigate future potential loss such as leaks. Too many contractors are concerned with “filing a claim” and not taking care of the homeowner.

We have also noticed that contractors are pushing the “stay local” narrative and taking advantage of homeowners lack of knowledge of the insurance process. We have talked to homeowners with $100k claims who are fully prepared to give ALL of their insurance proceeds to the contractor without an estimate. They were going to receive a bare bones shingle and the contractor would likely pocket $50-60k of the job.

Here is a list of the MINIMUM you should receive from your contractor:

• Full inspection report with damage photos of ALL slopes and elevations.

• Tarp, cover, or repair any missing shingles, fractured shingles, damaged ridge caps, and holes or tears in the roof. Ask your contractor to board broken or damaged windows, garage doors, or any other area susceptible to weather.

• An estimate detailing the scope of work, cost, products, and materials that will be used on your home.

Not all roofing contractors are the same. We offer complimentary Class 4 shingle upgrades, full pest home exclusions with lifetime guarantees, and Jellyfish Lighting to ALL StormVets customers that trust us with their home and insurance claim.

Don’t settle for the bare minimum. When contractors compete, YOU WIN!

Call us today to schedule an inspection and let us serve you!

Good evening!

It’s hail season, which means get a “no solicit” sign if you don’t want Blake to knock your door 😉

In all seriousness, we have wide spread hail in the DFW.

Don’t rely on BBB ratings, google reviews, neighbors recommendations. Even though we are in great standing on all of those platforms, it doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t end up with the short end of the stick.

Do your research and don’t rely strictly on reputation. We know plenty of “highly rated” roofing companies that take advantage of their customers by using garbage products and cutting corners on materials and installs.

Here are some questions you should have answered before hiring a roofing company to replace your roof!

1. What shingles will be installed on my roof?

• Class 4 provide massive benefits from premium reduction to longevity. At minimum, you should ask for a Class 3 IR depending on the insurance payout. They can afford it.

2. What did my insurance company purchase for repair or replacement?

• A lot of roofers skimp on work to save money. We see drip edges not replaced, gutters paid for by insurance but not replaced or removed, roof vents re-used. If insurance purchases it, your roofer should be replacing it.

3. How much does this cost?

• Insurance can under pay and over pay. Getting an estimate from your contractor ensures the scope of work and the price.

We would love to take care of you and your family!

Give us a call today!

⛈️ Storms hit hard here in Texas and hail damage is something we see every season. This photo shows a box vent that has taken repeated impacts. Every dent is a sign of hail damage, and if metal components look like this, your shingles are taking the same beating.

Hail damage is not always just surface level. It can weaken shingles, expose the roofing system, and lead to leaks over time. What seems minor now can turn into major repairs if it goes unchecked.

If your home has been through a recent storm, now is the time to have it looked at. We provide free inspections and free estimates to help you understand exactly what is going on with your roof.

Protect your home and stay ahead of the damage. Reach out anytime if you would like us to take a look.

Many shingles are marketed as “30 year shingles,” but that does not mean they will last 30 years in Texas. The harsh climate in North Texas is much tougher on roofing materials than in many other parts of the country.

In the Dallas Fort Worth area, the average asphalt shingle roof typically lasts about 15 to 20 years. With some ever lower than that depending on the area and shingle type. Several factors shorten the lifespan. Intense summer heat, rapid temperature swings, high UV exposure, severe thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds all break down shingles much faster over time.

That is one of the main reasons we install Class 4 impact resistant shingles for our homeowners whenever possible. These shingles are designed to better withstand hail and severe weather, which helps extend the life of the roof and protect the home beneath it.

Our goal is simple. Build roofs the right way so our homeowners are not dealing with constant repairs or premature replacements. A stronger roof means better protection, longer lifespan, and real peace of mind for the families who live under it.

⛈️ Severe thunderstorms are expected to move through the Dallas Fort Worth area later tonight with the potential for large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain, and possible localized flooding. Please make sure you stay weather aware and take precautions to keep your family safe.

If possible, move vehicles under cover, secure outdoor items that could be blown around by strong winds, and avoid being outside if hail begins to fall. Storms are expected to develop later this evening and could continue overnight across parts of North Texas.

All of us at StormVets care deeply about our community and the safety of the families we serve. Please stay safe, check on neighbors if needed, and keep an eye on weather alerts throughout the evening.

If your home experiences hail or wind damage during the storm, our team will be available to help with free roof inspections once conditions are safe. We are here to answer questions and help homeowners understand the condition of their roofs after severe weather.

Stay safe tonight, DFW. 💙
