I think I’m officially retiring from the Dahlia Wars 😂 I’m done chasing unicorns just because they’re expensive, popular, or the latest must-have variety. There are THOUSANDS of gorgeous dahlias out there that don’t cost $75–$150 for a single tuber. And yes, some really do cost that much! There are still a few unicorns I’d love to get my hands on, but I’d rather wait a few years for prices to come down or stumble across one in a trade than stress over crazy tuber sales. If chasing unicorns is your jam, that’s awesome! It’s just not for me anymore. So tell me, are you gearing up for the Dahlia Wars or sitting this one out with me?

Mother Nature is pretty freaking cool. One of my favorite things about growing cool flowers is how many of them happily self-seed and come back all on their own! Less work for me and more flowers next season? Yes, please. I love when Mother Nature decides to give me a little head start on next year’s garden!

Narrowing down my dahlias to just 12 favorites is basically an impossible task, but here we are! 😂 Now, if you asked me every day for a week what my top 12 were, I can almost guarantee the list would change a little each time. But these happened to be my favorites on the day I recorded, and honestly, they’re all fabulous! After growing so many varieties, picking favorites feels a little like choosing a favorite child. So here’s my very unofficial, subject-to-change-at-any-moment top 12! Tell me, which dahlias would make your list?

I’m getting ruthless with what varieties I’m cutting and keeping for 2027 dahlia patch! My goal is 50 varieties and that’s going to be tight, but I really just want the best of the best… So here’s a little rapid fire of what is a yes and no and a maybe.

And just like that, we’ve made it to Part 6 of Dahlia Decisions, the FINAL episode! I’m also so excited to finally share which varieties made the cut for my 2027 garden and which ones got the boot so stay tuned!
But if you think we’re done talking dahlias, think again. I still have my top 10 favorites to share, plus plenty more dahlia content coming your way. Because let’s be real, I could talk about these flowers all day. 😂 Tell me in the comments which varieties you think I absolutely NEED to keep!
