Got to try my hand at mitering porcelain with color matched epoxy finishes, could’ve got the color match a tad better but turned out decent. Really like the miter finishes but I wish more people did it/knew it was an option. Decided to try laticrete for the waterproofing here and I absolutely hated working with their lightweight thinsets. Loved the waterproofing options though. That Foam Guy shim kit as usual, made everything super easy especially with the miter finishes. Did a bonded mud bed with sheet membrane over and liquid membraned over the pan and a foot up the walls. With sealant for the screws and joints. All hydroban. Floor was poured with TEC Level set 400 HF. Pretty good over concrete, don’t like the specifications for it over plywood. Flo FX drain.

2nd bathroom in that same flip house, 2x10 porcelain subway tile on a quarter offset. 8 inch hexagons for the floor. Got the chance to try UZIN North America NC 150F with their CX-30 thinset and it’s all I pour now(bought a pallet of their self leveler lol). Love their self leveler and thinset together. Walls for the shower were waterproofed with HydroBlok | HB ONE backer CI, and walls prepped with That Foam Guy. This was definitely rhetorical project that made me switch to an UZIN system completely, gonna get the chance to use all of their products in an overkill curbless build soon.

Hydroblok board with their sealant waterproofed.

Built with foam shims for the walls.

UZIN North America NC 150F fiber reinforced self leveler used for this floor. Was amazing to work with, 1 minute mix time, super easy flow in general.

NC 886 Skim Patch with their PE 260 primer, coupled with their thinset over the top of the floor assembly makes this eligible for a 20 year manufacturer warranty. Favorite system by far.

I’m like 4 projects behind that I have to post🤣. This is one of two bathrooms in a flip house. Cool pattern on the floor, tried HydroBlok | HB ONE backer CI for the first time and for the price it is a pretty exceptional backerboard, really like it honestly. Also got to use Sika USA 475 LHT and it’s a great thinset overall. Permabase on the floor mudded down and screwed. (Last time I’m ever using cement board)

Tile set with TEC totalflex 110. Luckily got to come back to look at it with glass installed. Also I cannot stand setting unrectified porcelain.

This is the finish, I only did the shower, floor, and drywall work (primed after sanding). Patched some dips in the floor with ardex feather finish, 1/4 perma base with 254 platinum. Floor was set with X77 (absolutely incredible thinset btw). Walls shimmed with .with.foam and shower system with a mudbed. Layout worked really well for the dimensions and I planned the niche out decently so was really happy with the finish for that. First shower door I’ve done as well. Overall color scheme the homeowners picked out turned out really nice.

Should preface that this is absolutely not my work. Around November had a homeowner ask me about their contractors prep work (He ended up firing him and I took on the job afterwards). But a lot of this was done against manufacturers specifications. No preslope underneath the liner, no corner dams by the curb, no weep hole protection, screwing through the inside and top of the curb, and no mortar underneath the durock for the floor. He couldn’t even be bothered to switch out the old ptrap for the drain and no waterproofing for the walls. That being said I tend to see a lot of these same issues from contractors who claim to have been doing this for 20 years, yet almost all of these things go against manufacturers or TCNA specifications. If you’re having a custom tile shower built make sure you document every stage of the project as it progresses if possible.
