These homeowners were part of a pandemic-driven exodus, when many professionals in cities across America moved to the country, hoping to evade the airborne virus. In our region, according to a Coastal Association of Realtors Report, the Eastern Shore became one of the hottest real estate markets in the country, particularly for waterfront properties. 🛥

The builder, Bob Gearhart, founder of Focus Construction, comments that “the level of detail in this house is significant, but it is balanced and doesn’t feel overdone. It is designed in an historic southern traditional style with modern amenities, yet it is very comfortable.”

This designer is unafraid to make a bold statement with this shade of blue for the home's scullery.

Blue, the client’s favorite color, is a subtle yet unifying element. "The scullery kitchen is drenched in a shining lacquered blue; a bold blue painting animates the living room; and additional shades of blue appear throughout the home—including the racks supporting geothermal equipment in the HVAC room, " writes Kymberly Taylor, author of the essay on this beach home featured in Annapolis Home Magazine.

There are faces, and there are names. And SCOTT WALLACE'S name has become synonymous with luxury real estate in Annapolis.

Scott Wallace’s rise to the top of Maryland’s real estate market is a story of grit, discipline, and relentless drive. He didn’t sit back and wait for opportunity to knock, he went out and created it. On his very first day in real estate, Scott sold the first home he ever showed in a competitive multiple-offer situation. And when his clients considered writing a love letter to the seller to gain their favor, Scott delivered his now-famous line: “The best love letter you can ever write will come in the form of a check.” His clients were under contract the very next day. That moment set the tone for his career.

Long before real estate, Scott built his competitive edge as an All-Star football and lacrosse player at St. Mary’s High School. He went on to win a Division I National Championship in lacrosse with Syracuse University in 2004. That same intensity, and the ability to perform under pressure, defines his approach today. Whether negotiating a multimillion-dollar deal or guiding a client through a complex transaction, Scott performs when the stakes are high. He is a closer.

Before entering real estate, Scott was a record-breaking top salesman for a Fortune 500 company, earning recognition for his charisma and world-class client experience. Today, he brings that same standard to Annapolis, where his deep local knowledge and powerful network have earned him the fitting nickname “Mr. Annapolis”. His accolades include the Sterling Society, International President’s Club, and recognition as an ELITE PRODUCER by The Washingtonian, with many of his listings being featured in the Wall Street Journal.

Scott’s philosophy is simple: every deal is a big deal, and every client deserves his full commitment. He doesn’t sit back and wait, he makes things happen. Just ask the people he’s worked for.

About this home:
Avondale estate on the Eastern Shore dates to the late 18th century when the initial three-bay brick Residence was built by Freeborn Banning. It remained in the hands of Banning’s descendants until 1896, then passed through a succession of seven or eight owners. It was largely unaltered – or expanded - until the 1920s when the first substantial additions and alterations occurred. More recently, around 2000, a wholesale remodeling effort was initiated – this work included insensitive alterations as well as additions to the prior additions. Ultimately the work stalled leaving the Residence incomplete, unusable and vacant for years. The preservation and design-minded clients purchased Avondale with the vision of restoring Residence and property to the stately and gracious home it had once been, while also bringing it into the 21st century, suitable to a young, active family’s lifestyle.
