Peak fawning for most of Mississippi is in July, but for other parts of the state it can start as early as mid-June or start as late as the end of August. ⁠

⁠Even though fawns can run around as soon as they are born, they usually will not start following their mother until around 3 weeks old. A doe will only visit her fawn every 4-6 hours for it to nurse.⁠
⁠
⁠If taken from the mother, the chances of a fawn surviving drastically decreases without the nutrition and key antibodies in the mother's milk. ⁠

⁠Checkout the map to see when most fawns are born in your area and consider keeping the mowing of fields and other openings to a minimum for the next few months as fawns can often be hidden in these areas.”⁠
