On our current San Luis Obispo project, the yard is completely flat, which doesn’t allow proper airflow for traditional lumber decking. Instead, we chose porcelain decking for a smarter, longer-lasting solution.

This is the same porcelain used indoors, manufactured at nearly three times the thickness for outdoor use. It’s extremely durable, low maintenance, and will outlast any composite deck on the market.

AAA Landscaping transformed an unusable hillside in Arroyo Grande into a fully functional outdoor living space designed for both structure and style. This project features a custom retaining wall and courtyard wall built with Bravo pavers by Belgard Hardscape Products, creating a strong foundation and a clean architectural look.

The courtyard includes a natural gas fire pit finished with blue fire glass, providing a striking focal point for evening entertaining. A large custom redwood pergola was installed and finished with a solid brown stain, complete with column bases for durability and a timeless aesthetic.

Additional upgrades included full electrical installation for the spa, a dedicated gas line to the barbecue island, and installation of both a gas barbecue and a Santa Maria–style grill. All wall lights and pergola downlights are powered by FX Luminaire, delivering warm, professional-grade lighting throughout the space.

This project turned a challenging slope into a private, inviting courtyard built to last.

Return client project in Arroyo Grande 🌿

A returning customer reached out to us for a full design-build while keeping the existing asphalt road intact. We completely renovated the front yard to create a clean turnaround and a welcoming entryway. The home already featured lower brick detailing, so we carried that theme throughout the landscape for a seamless look.

We installed brick in a running bond and herringbone patterns, blending classic craftsmanship with character. The client wanted an English-garden feel mixed with succulents and pops of color to soften the space and add interest. The finished yard features a beautiful pathway, step lights, and up lighting that highlight the entry and enhance nighttime curb appeal.

This San Luis Obispo homeowner found us through a word-of-mouth referral from a local general contractor. With nearly 90% of the remodel focused on the interior, they wanted the front yard to truly complement their historic Craftsman rebuild.

To honor the character of the home, the client chose to avoid concrete and traditional pavers. We installed a true brick walkway in a herringbone pattern with a classic soldier course border. For a clean, low-maintenance finish, we incorporated artificial turf, paired with iceberg roses to echo the home’s white trim and spiral dwarf Italian cypress for vertical interest. A gray stone courtyard wall adds privacy while clearly defining the entry and enhancing curb appeal.

We recently completed a beautiful design-build project for a retired school teacher who wanted a peaceful, drought-tolerant landscape for their forever home. The vision was simple: natural materials, low maintenance, and a layout centered around their mature olive tree.

We used natural flagstone from Central Coast Landscape Products to build a hand-crafted dry-stack retaining wall, and we reused boulders from the previous landscape to keep the character and sustainability of the property intact. A custom redwood trellis with hog wire will guide bougainvillea as it grows, adding color and softness over time.

A flagstone path set with 3/8" Palomino rock now creates a natural walkway from the front yard to the backyard, and black aluminum fencing provides privacy, clean lines, and increased fire resistance.

This landscape is newly planted, but we’re excited to watch it grow into everything our client imagined for their forever home.

This backyard makeover meant a lot to us. 🌿
Our client grew up in this home, and now uses it as a second getaway from the valley heat. Even while they were away, we kept the process seamless — shipping paver samples and Trex decking samples straight to their door so decisions were easy from a distance.

We transformed an old, crumbling brick patio into a fresh Morro Bay Grey Roman paver patio sealed with a wet-look finish, added a raised Trex deck, and built a stucco-matched wall topped with ½” tempered glass wind block. We also tied their new gas heaters into the home’s gas meter so no more propane refills.

Feels like a whole new chapter for a home full of memories. 🔥🌴
